Stripping of New Lines from Posts

Often when I reply to a post, or edit on existing post, I find that the new line characters are stripped from the post. This also happens when I preview a post I am writing as a reply or an edit.

 

For example:

<some>
<interesting>
	XML code
</interesting>
</some>

 

becomes:

<some>	<interesting>		XML code	</interesting></some>

 

Note that this happens with all content, not just text in the code tag.

It only seems to happen in my comment threads of my files. I tried editing this post, and all is well. However, editing or replying to a personal message, or a comment in an uploaded files thread causes the issue.

 

It may be important to note I am running IE8, and that the problem happens with and without compatibility mode engaged.
