Puhnupetteri
Greetings everyone I have played Fallout 1, 2 and now Vanilla version of Fallout 3 Fallout vanilla 3 was great, but it was FAR TOO EASY and i only played main Quest (wich ended in less than 12 hour playtime for me) Stimapks health instatly like in F1 and F2 but in F3 its making game far too easy. Enemys are too lame with dmg and GNR radio has only 20 songs that 3 Dog playes over and over. I tried XFO overhaul mod but i came to conclusion that it was bugged and it made melee too powerful. Q: Can anyone suggest a good mod pack that WORKS and its easy to install? Wich adds -more songs, -more content, and bit more hardness and realistic to game? Btw i dont know it's just because im bit amateur in modding and using PC but i found it very hard to even install XFO orginally cause first i had to download something called FoSe and FoMM and then there was thing that i didint understunt that did they run trouble with f3 patch 1.7?So i uninstalled all mods cause i tought 1.7 patch works atleast then ?( I hate bugs / crashes (ok they belong in every Fallout game :) )I wonder why there is not mod that has setup and installs itself automatically like most of games (Easyer for newbie PC users like me)Thank u - Puhnupetteri
SgtLovejoy
If you have any questions on how to get started this guide certainly helps. Before getting any mods I suggest getting the Fallout Mod Manager. It's best to start out using it. Now, Fallout Wanderer's Edition Would take care of your problems with stimpacks, and enemy's. It has the ability to make the game harder if you'd like.GNR Radio Extended and Fixed - Now, I don't personally use this mod, but I've heard some good things about this. Hopefully this gives you your perfect fallout 3. Let me know if this isn't what you want or if you need any more help.
Puhnupetteri
Howdy Thank you SgtLovejoy for your Advices. The Mod you suggested for Fallout 3 (Wanderer's edition) was gr8th! But i was unsure should i install the "GNR Radio Extended and Fixed". Back when i installed the XFO for first time i also tried "GNR -- More Where That Came From" and it seems i either failed to install it or it was bugging.Cause it jammed after every second song or so or just didint work at all and no songs were playing. I wonder if GNR radio extended and fixed has better result for adding more songs? But there wasn't any installation guide in the page and as i read it uses really the same "More where that came from" mod too? Anyway the Wanderers Editor was gr8t :) thanks for that again. Thank you for your answer so far :)- Puhnupetteri
C6Aviation
The reason GNR - More Where That Came From didn't play songs, most likely, is that you forgot to supply your own music in the correct formats. Installing that mod is VERY complex. Even I screw it up and I've played through eight times now

As for my mod pack..I tend to stay away from those. I feel they change too much and are too buggy. Especially FOOK, stay WELL away from that thing. FOOK in a nutshell: Search Nexus --> Arrange by endorsements --> download --> assimilate --> ??? --> CONFLICT! It's a shame, too, as the general idea being FOOK is quite a nice one. If only everything in FOOK got along with everything else. FOOK and FWE are notorious for issues with other mods, too, as I've seen thousands of compatibility patches made to get them to get along with something.

My personal must-have mods, reasoning in parenthesis:

20th Century Weapons (Makes the game harder by virtue of giving the NPCs boomsticks that can actually kill you. Also you can use them if you like)

Mart's Mutant Mod (More, varied critters. And I mean more, you can spam critters at yourself if you want. Don't like 5-10 muties at GnR? Try 10-15. Literal hordes of ferals, too. Or not, you can disable this if you want, as I did for performance reasons more than anything else)

Fellout (Because really, after 200 years that radioactive dust would have settled out by now)

PureWater (Just looks better than vanilla water, you can have it still contain rads if you want although I run it clean as well)

Unofficial Patch (Because Bethesda couldn't patch their way out of a pit)

GreenWorld (Useful post-purifier and/or post-Oasis if you choose the appropriate quest line, though I run it from day one just because I can. And I like how alive the wastes look.
some sort of night vision to go along with those crazy dark Fellout nights (Night + Fellout = can't see the end of your pistol...)

Human Catapult (Useful for extreme hilarity when launching indoors essential NPCs, also useful for killing an NPC without upsetting it's faction. Or, you know, just launching things into orbit)

Personal Terminal (Change anything. Remove a perk you don't want. Add more perks. Cheat your eyeballs out. Or not. Even if you never use the cheat functions it's still extremely useful for managing your vanilla followers)

Lings Finer Things (Dayum, you be lookin gooooooood...goes well with the body replacer of your choice. Stuff for male and female wanderers.)

Anything else on top of those is just icing on the cake.
Shamrokc
Arwens Realism Tweaks mods are pretty sick imo. There might be a little bit of compatibility issues with stuff like fwe, but I *think* it works ok with MMM. Check it out here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7565. I'm working on my own personal rebalance myself, to add modifiers like armor piercing ammunition kits to guns, and making certain armors better (no more killing someone in full power armor with 3 bullets from an assault rifle). I'm not much good at scripting, but I plan on making certain enemies fight smarter/harder (raiders see a couple guys show up with fatman's and full power armor, they wont run up and *try* to punch you to death anymore) as well as making ammunition a hell of a lot more scarce. other tweaks will include limiting max ammo cap, making npcs use ammo, making my own variant of the many chems/meds mods out there. I hope I get it done before vegas, but if I dont, oh well.
Sepherose
If you are interested in visual goodies you can check out my diversification mod here. It's purely visual with exception of Moriarty's new outfit. Just figured I'd toss that out there. :)
