Creating New Awakening Items

I used weriKK's extremely helpful 'adding items to Origins' tutorial to successfully add some custom items to Origins, and now that I'm starting on Awakening I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same. I understand that I could edit that one xml file to have the add-in plug in to Awakening rather than Origins, but the problem that I'd encounter would be tiering - there are two new tiers above Dragonbone for weapons and armor, and I'd like to utilize them. Not sure how to get access to whatever I need to make the toolset recognize those tiers, though.
