anythingstays
I have MGE installed on my Steam version of Morrowind. Since Steam Morrowind supposedly doesn't support mods I copypasted a different version of the Morrowind application off of a torrent of the game. I got MGE to work and managed to change my resolution and some other features but distant land will not work for me. I used the distant land creation tool and checked the box to turn it on but I still get Morrowind's crappy draw distance. I have had distant land working previously when I downloaded a pre modded copy of Morrowind that had distant land on it. I can't play the game from that copy for separate reasons so I decided to start fresh with my Steam copy of the game. Also now that I have the MGE when I create new savegames they don't appear in my saves folder. Can anyone help me with these issues. In case it's important I have Vista 32 bit. Nexus Set
Ditch the torrented files and try the solution posted here. I think you'll need to disable steam community chat or something like that as well.

eaglematt42
If anyone else is having this issue, I fixed it by changing the Shader Model to 2.0 instead of 3.0 under the Distant Land tab of MGEgui
