Combat tactics and things to make modding better

OK, folks. These are from my own experience.

1st thing 1st. Let me make something clear:

I do not want to sound like a bragging person, as I know that many of u ppl know this tactics and modding stuff. However, there is always smb who doesn't and I myself always liked to get some feedback on the currently discussed theme(s). Open mind... A way to become better... Ppl will like u... More friends...

THE MOST IMPORTANT FIRST.

FO3 MAY SOON LOSE A BUNCH OF ITS PLAYERS TO THE FO: NEW VEGAS.

Let us NOT just forget the good old FO3, friends. Let's have them at the same time!!! FO1 and FO2 are maybe way too old games for this kind of approach, as there was a 10 yrs gap, but FO3 and Fallout: New Vegas will be playable at the same time.

THE FOLLOWING TEXT GOES BOTH FOR FO3 AND FOR THE FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS, because:

-Tactical tricks are practically always the same.

-THE FO3 MODS WILL BE ADAPTABLE FOR FALOUT: New Vegas, right?

Tactics:

YO! These are just basics, adapt them to your own needs!

-VATS. Even if u don'thave any AP at the moment, use VATS to locate an enemy; exit VATS and zoom in. Fire and u hit 'em.

-Flank your enemies.

-At higher lvl, always have a powerful gun hotkeyed in case u run into a Deathclaw, Sentrybot, Albino Radscorp, Reaver or st. like that.

-Have bottlecap mines (or whichever mines) hotkeyed. It's fun to throw these before the pursuing opponents. Or, u can throw a mine in front of u and run over it. If u go on running in a straight line, a BLAAAM!! will ring behind u.

-Have grenades hotkeyed (get it here: http://www.fallout3n...le.php?id=8112) lobe them through windows and openings to weaken the enemies before u attack.

-Right wpn for right situation. Shotgun, flamer, pistol, smg, etc for indoors or enclosed space and rifles/machine guns for outdoors open areas and big rooms.

-Watch out for the spin up time if u use a minigun. Vengeance or st like that may be a better idea.

-Like to charge? Zig zag by strafing left and right, u'll have less bulletholes like this.

-In the DC ruins and in the street, stick to one side of the street and have ur eyes peeled for the other one.

-When fighting, move and do not stand in one place, smb's gonna get ya with a grenade or rocket launcher. Strifing and firing at the same time is always good.

-Room search. Ever got lost while doing this? In Franklin metro utility, maybe? Try searching room by room in a clockwise or counter-clockwise pattern. If there's a threat, mine the entrances into the room u are searching.

-Entering rooms. Always take glimpse to left and right at the door before u enter and then enter and move to one side.

-The closest enemy is always the most dangerous one. Act accordingly. Unless the most formidable one stands right beside it:)

-Use the terrain. U can always jump off a wall or through a 1st storey window to make the enemies follow u, mine the entrance and finish the rest.

-Climbing the stairs. Move backwards, so that u can see a threat.

-Like a panther. Train yourself to react AT ONCE. This especially goes for traps. When u hear a sound of something fallling on the ground (a grenade bouquet?) - RUN!!!

-Followers. They can set off a trap, so watch out. Formation: Use their position to adapt your own. Cover them, etc.

OK, ppl, there u go. These basics saved my FO3 skin more than once.

MODDING:

I am not a modder, but I have noticed some things that make some mods not so popular. And i have a few ideas:

-As 4 items as such, place them at an available location (V101 entrance, Springvale, Megaton...). A few ppl will take a quest to find their flint gun:). Today's ppl want to have their stuff now, or even better yesterday. :D:D

-Make the weapon worth it. Make it powerful and good looking.

-How about dual pistols or melee weapons? Only dual thing I've seen so far is the dual deathclaw gauntlets mod.

-How about gun in one hand and knife in the other hand to use them simultaneously? That would be just WOW!

-How about the gun melee attack and/or blocking? (Remember the Medal of Honor Spearhead?)

OK, that's it for now.

And now, how about this? Anyone has st I forgot?

One of my favorites is to find a door where you can shoot or better snipe one out of a group of enemies. Then go through the door immediately. They probably won't follow. Stay in sneak until the indicator goes from danger to caution and back to hidden, They are no longer looking for you. Go back through the door and shoot another one. Repeat as needed. In case they do follow you, leave a string of mines - bottlecap for super mutants & Talon mercs (why are these guys so tough?), frag for ghouls, and move far enough away from the door where you are not hit with the blast from your own mines.

When you are trapped in a place where they can come up behind from one entrance while you are covering another, leave a string of mines for them to cross to get in. (minefield) If you are up high, and an enemy moves too close to the wall to shoot, drop a grenade over the side - the game mechanics do not allow a direct drop, so you will have to bounce it off of something or throw it so it just drops off the edge.

Hey, thanks:D

I like that. And your quote about experience too.

I like sniping as well, not only classic shootout.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a squad of Flood Combat Forms fighting the Talon guys and I showed 'em all what the 82a Sniper is for. In like 15 secs, they were all RIP.

VATS in Anchorage (and if there are any inviso enemies elsewhere) .

U can locate any of such hombres with VATS. Then just exit VATS and fire mercilessly at that spot. And giggle when u see the carcass, heh heh :)

-If u give us a shooting weapon, give us also a plenty of ammo for it... No less than 10000 ( 10 k). Or make if obtainable in some way. Otherwise, what would a mod be good for, if the weapon(s) in it become our favorite one(s), if there is no ammo available? Hey, this is a shooting game with lot of enemies, right?

SURROUNDED?

Fast travel to a wrong place can grant you this kind of fun.

To break out of a surrounding, run in one direction massacring all in your path. As soon as u break , turn around and pulverize the rest of the enemies.

HAVE YOUR STIMS HOTKEYED!!!

And yea, what is better for a close quarters party? A flamer or an autoshotgun?

I'm not much for tactics. But there's a mod I've been thinking about.

You know in combat games you can take cover behind something and then poke your head out on one side and fire a few rounds and then back again or you could stick the gun out and shoot like a fool, suppressing fire style? That would be awesome. Did anyone even understand me? I hope so.

Ehm. Google told me about Somalians cutting off hands. Mod search gave me nothing. It's not a mod is it? *Feels stupid*

LOL, no, sorry, I probably should have explained it better.

One of the shooting positions, standing, is also known as "offhand". Don't ask me why, but it is. You'll probably never hear that term used in shooting schools, and to competitive shooters it means shooting with....your 'off' hand (left if you're right handed), but I can pretty much guarantee you'll hear it called that in the military.

'Somalian Offhand' is the term for sticking your rifle around/over a wall or whatever cover and mindlessly spraying an area with fire. For some good examples, go to YouTube and search for "Holiday in Monrovia".

Or:

There are other videos, pics, etc. out there, but I think you get the idea and some of them are not necessarily something that I'd want the younger members of this board following links to.
