FWE-Compatible mods list

Recommended Posts

I'm using Mods for the first time with Fallout 3 (well familiar with using and making them since half life 1) and I've decided to use FWE. It appears that almost all mods are incompatible. I found a list of compatible mods with FWE and every entry was either incompatible or already integrated.

Does such a list exist? What mods are undoubtably compatible?

I'd like to add trees and such, maybe have street lights? And any other things possible. Radio stations ...

EDIT:

I'm really enjoying FWE so far

I tried using the Iguana mod. I haven't noticed any difference. Started a new game, been playing 10 hours or so of it (off work sick) and no iguanas ... with the FWE compatibility esp too.

The past few times my head gets crippled the game crashes. It wasn't doing that before with FWE, though it seems strange that the iguana would affect it

There are too many compatible or incompatible mods to compile an exhaustive list of either. Generally, if a given mod affects the same thing as FWE, the two probably will not be compatible. The biggest exception to that would be mods that just add more, like new items, without changing what's already there. Taken as a whole, most mods are compatible with FWE, at least to a point. You should be creating a merged patch in FO3Edit for the mods you use, which will smooth over some problems. Other mods may require a compatibility patch of some sort, like EVE and WMK. With some mods you won't get any errors or anything like that, but the numbers won't be properly balanced for use with FWE. 20th Century Weapons, for instance, functions but the (many) weapons added do noticeably low damage.

I use FWE, and just going down my load order, these mods are at least compatible enough that I play with them normally:

  • Project Beauty
  • 20th Century Weapons
  • Mart's Mutant Mod
  • StreetLights and StreetLights Wastland
  • DC Interiors
  • Realistic Interior Lighting
  • DarNified UI
  • More Where That Came From
  • Treasure Maps series
  • Wasteland Interiors Project - Big Town
  • Civil Defense Broadcast System
  • Random Bobbleheads
  • Megaton House and Theme Overhaul
  • EVE
  • PreWar Book Titles and Perks
  • Recoil
  • HelmPOV
  • Immersive Health
  • Delay DLC series
  • Pipboy Readius
  • Crosshair Toggle
  • Wasteland Moods Weather series

...Among others. Maybe a third of those (pretty much just the major ones) required a compatibility patch.

Wow, thanks for the list, ultSkeletor!

I'm using More Where that Came From & EVE now. I also figured out that there's a quest associated with the iguanas that I need to do first before they show up it seems.

I really like using FWE so far

I'm not sure which mod it has to do with, but the farther I've gotten the more and more often the game crashes. I'm trying to escort liberty prime and I get kicked out after no more than 4 or 5 minutes each time, and sometimes after just 30 seconds. I have to quick save constantly

Even using only compatible mods you still need them in the right load order. Not only that, but some mods are marked as compatible with another mod, but need a patch mod added in to actually make them work correctly together. To top it all off, you still need to create a merged patch to get your active mods to play nice together. (Don't worry, once your load order is correct merged patches are incredibly simple to make.) Incorrect load order is a major cause of crashes. Post your load order here and I'll take a look. I'm not exactly a load order guru, but chances are one of them will see it too.

If you don't know how to get a copy of your load order, open the Fallout Mod Manager, click the Load Order menu at the top, and select "Copy to clipboard". Then you can paste the list into a forum post.

At the very least, you're missing the compatibility patches for EVE+FWE (I think they are available here.) I've heard someone else talk about crashing when combining the Iguanas mod and FWE (though, it might have been Iguanas+MMM.) From your load order, the only mod I've never used is the Iguanas one, so I can't really say. Otherwise, I'd say your load order looks about right.

@Tendril

I am the creator of the Iguana mod. Please read the readme or the description. Iguanas show up after you have completed the quest 'Off the Stick'. [edit: Ok you found that already]

Your head crippling has nothing to do with the Iguanas. The only changes that are made in the compatibility plugin are for a few of my new food items which stats are changed for FWE compatibility. Nothing of FWE is touched by the Iguanas. So this can't happen.

Btw. I am not sure what your merged patch does. The original esm & esp is still in your load order. So why? It isn't need for the Iguanas.

@ultskeletor

The Iguanas are added spawns. So if you have a weak machine and use a lot of MMM spawns adding the Iguanas can crash your fallout. Simply decrease the MMM spawns and all works flawless. Martigen plans to add the Iguanas in MMM RC 6 then this problem shouldn't happen anymore.

Hey sesom,

Got it. Yep, I figured out why the iguanas weren't showing (post 4). Pretty neat mod! Really lets Jericho waste even more of the FWE-scarce ammo ;D

ultSkeletor,

Thanks for the heads-up on the EVE compatibility patch! Maybe that's my issue. I'm using an energy-weapons character but perhaps Liberty Prime is using some new animation that's making conflict. I can't get across the bridge, it keeps crashing.
