FOSE, D2D, FEM, and me!

Hello, I'm looking to get some of the awesome mods you all have made work eventhough I have the D2D version of Fallout 3 (non goty). Here's what's up. I've gotten moderately competent using the FOMM but I've noticed that when activating or building a fomod a message comes up saying that a script is needed to run or use (cant remember right now). So I know I've had mods checked in FOMM but they don't appear or run when I play. Now I've used the d2d patch to update to version 1.1xx and then two days ago I patched to v1.7 using the official 1.7 patch exe. I installed FEM and all the body packs on its page but holding F12 didn't do anything during play. I thought it was because I'm using an older apple keyboard on pc. I fixed some keyboard issues and still nothing. Now I run FOMM and run FOSE from it and I don't crash. Holding F12 brings up message to wait for a menu to load in game now. FEM works so does that mean FOSE is working with my d2d version? Every search I have done up till now ultimately leads me to "FOSE is not compatible with these versions..." And does that mean I have to reactivate other script using mods like AP and the terminator one to try them since FOSE doesn't ctd?

Hopefully I'm not too wordy and bring up an issue that has been solved elsewhere. I don't want to buy the game on disc if most mods are compatible now. Thanks for any help!
