CorenYi
As the title says, I am experiencing an apparently unavoidable CTD from a bound item I received from a daedric stone. As soon as the spell wears off, CTD occurs. Please help me. I need to know if it has anything to do with any of the mods/dlcs that I use, the patch version, anything. I greatly appreciate any info you can provide. I have listed all of my pertinent info below. If you need anything else, please let me know. Ranokoa
Vista, along with Windows 7, tends to act weirdly with Oblivion being installed in the Program Files directory. Ensure that it is installed outside of this directory, such as in a location like C:/Games/Oblivion or whatever. Also, aside from that, try disabling ALL mods. Play the game, and tell me if it still crashes. Before we can diagnose whether this is caused by a mod or not we need to know it happens if mods are disabled. Be well, sleep well, fight well, live long.~Ranokoa
CorenYi
I loaded it with no addons at all(even the official ones were off) and it's still ctding. So I'm guessing that means it's time for a clean install. But does anybody have any idea why it would be encountering this error? It sounds like a bug that was supposed to be fixed by patch 1.1.5... but I'm on patch 1.2.0416. At this point it's mostly me hoping I can avoid this in the future. CorenYi
Mkay. I have done a complete uninstall, including reg-editing to get the game completely off of my computer. I saved most recent save with the bug in it, on my desktop, it was the only Oblivion file remaining on the computer. After doing a clean install from disk of both oblivion and shivering isles, patching the game to 1.2.0.416 and installing my official DLCs I moved the file into the new saves folder and loaded it to test. Guess what? It still CTDs when the bound item expires. Can someone please help? I shouldn't have to play the game NEVER using a bound item just to avoid CTDs.
