OBGEv2_3-300 install issues PLZ HELP

I have recently downloaded OBGEv2_3-30054 along with the plugin pack and extra texture file. I am not tech savvy enough to fill in the blanks and instructions on the download site(s) are less than clear on a lot of things. I have OBSE installed and working to the best of my knowledge and followed the instructions given on the site to the letter. The menu's are working in game and the option is there in my inventory to click on to bring them up but nothing is happening. The latest instructions for the version i downloaded reads

(1. If you have obge.dll or DepthTest.dll in your Data/OBSE/plugins folder, remove them.

2. Decompress the downloaded packages using 7-zip or any compatible alternative.

3. Move the data directory in the OBGEv2 package to your Oblivion directory. Answer yes to any merge or overwrite prompts.

4. Move the data directory in the Shader Pack to your Oblivion directory. Answer yes to any merge or overwrite prompts.

5. Move the contents of the Support Plugin package to your Oblivion/Data directory. Answer yes to any merge or overwrite prompts.

6. Copy any additional shaders' .fx files to your Oblivion/Data/Shaders directory, answering yes to any overwrite prompts.

7. Activate the Oblivion Graphics Extender Support.esp in the mod loader of your choice.)

Further down it reads

(The support plugin will currently allow you to toggle the following shaders:

CelShader+EdgeAA*

Depth of Field*

Color Effects*

Crysis Color Mood*

Sharpening

Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO)

Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) Performance

Godrays*

* - These shaders also support variable alteration. The others do not yet support it.

*Note*

If a shader is not listed in the above list, it will be nescessary to load it via the shaderlist.txt. To do so, open the shaderlist.txt file in your Data/Shaders folder, and add to it the name of the shader file that is not included in the support plugin's menu. Make sure to spell it exactly, and include the .fx extension. The shaders need a specific load order when they are entered into your shaderlist.txt, and it is as follows:

-SSAO

-Depth Of Field

-Godrays

-CelShader+EdgeAA

-Any other shaders available)

Following the information above I am lead to assume that the shaderlist.txt file should either look one of two ways

1) ssao_perf.fx <~~is this suppose to be SSAO or SSAO perf?

DepthOfField.fx

godrays.fx

CelShader+EdgeAA.fx

QuickBlurs.fx <~~ this shader is an fx shader not specified in the above list so i placed it here as instructed)

RAWRfix.fx <~~ also not on above list, placed below Celshader+Edge as it reads above)

ColorEffects.fx

ColorMood.fx

obsharpen.fx

ssao_test.fx

test1.fx

test2.fx

test3.fx

test4.fx

that is the first list in the shaderlist.txt file.

2) RAWRfix.fx

QuickBlurs.fx

test1.fx

test2.fx

test3.fx

test4.fx

According to the instructions I omitted any shaders already on the list "If a shader is not listed in the above list, it will be nescessary to load it via the shaderlist.txt" and added any .fx shaders to the list that were in the shader pack "6. Copy any additional shaders' .fx files to your Oblivion/Data/Shaders directory, answering yes to any overwrite prompts."

I assume neither list is right and even if one is correct the problem most likely lies somewhere else. I do not know enough about modding to "read between the lines" and fill everything in, can you please help? I would really like to use this mod, thank you.

Where do you have Oblivion installed? Do you see the message about which version of OBSE you are running when you load up a new game or save file? It should say in the top-left corner and in the console.

I use the Steam version of oblivion and its installed in the usual place, programfiles/steam/steammapps/common/oblivion. When i was installing OBSE it said place the steam loader into the directory and not the regular loader for the normal oblivion edition but it didn't seam to work unless i placed the normal steam loader into the game. I knew it wasn't working because cute elves would not install unless OBSE was running. I got cute elves installed so i assumed OBSE was functioning ok.

Not sure how to check the console to see which version im running, can you elaborate?

You do not need to check the console. The version number should be shown in the corner as all of your mod's scripts are initialized.

Installing & Uninstalling Oblivion - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=installing_oblivion <-- move Steam to a custom folder (i.e., C:\Games)

Check your OBSE config - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=obse <-- copy all three DLLs and the EXE (for purposes of various mod installation scripts and such, don't actually use the EXE)

Edit: Grab the fixed OBGE v2 DLL from the OGE BethSoft thread too. http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1102453-oblivion-graphics-extender-thread-16/page__view__findpost__p__16126078

Ok, separating Oblivion from the Steam folder seems wise but... its frightening to think about what that will do to my pathing for files. Any wise words for dividing it up without horrible complications that will lead to me reinstalling my OS system and/or stabbing myself in the face with a hot soldering iron?

Also, in the link above it says run the oblivion setup from programs but I have to download it from the steam site and its an automatic download/instant install (one process), it just kinda does whatever it wants.

That's fine. You can still reinstall Steam to a different location.

One last question, does the latest version of OBGE have to have a shaderlist.txt file in the shader folder to fucntion? The installation instructions for hte latest version don't really make it clear.

I am not sure. The updated DLL should not be cause for installation changes, as far as I know. You should ask this question in the Oblivion Graphics Extender Project thread on the BethSoft Mods forum.
