help with mods

Here is some helpful advice:

 

1: What are you making them for? Are there quests? Describe what the cities will look like and your full intent with each and every one.

 

2: What can YOU do? How big are the cities going to be and how much help do you need? WHAT help do you need? Do you need scripters? Modelers? Texture artists, advice givers, idea managers, team managers, questline writers and story tellers? What do you need?

 

3: Is this going to be a big project? Is this a personal project that you are only seeking helpful advice for?

 

Give more detail. Don't just say, "I'm making three cities, help me", but tell us what help you need or want and what the cities will incorporate. Nobody is going to help someone that they do not know what help is needed from them. If some random person off the streets comes up to me and says "Help me! Please tell me if you will help me by tomorrow or not" but doesn't say what they need help with and why, I am less likely to help them and more likely to ask someone how much I had to smoke or drink that day. Mostly because if that scenario were in real life it would be hysterically weird, and also a major exaggeration of a point I'm trying to make. Also I might think I am truly inebriated if it does happen now because I have just mentioned it.

 

Be creative, such as a summary above a giant description for each city that entices the imagination and makes all who read it WANT this mod to come to fruition. Make people interested. modding may be nonprofit, but that doesn't mean anyone who wants to make a big mod and needs help isn't selling something. You want to sell excitement and the possibility of being a part of something awesome by making it appear as though this mod is not only possible and likely, but will surely be a big hit. You want them to want to help you.

 

Something like:

 

This includes: A city that floats on top of the most serene pools of a mysterious waterbed with a history of violent malevolence, forsaken apparitions that coax adventurers with a magniloquent sirens call, trapping the minds of those who hear it, and forever destroying the sanity of all who fall victim of its terrifyingly grasp. ETC ETC.

 

Find pretty words that describe what you want and make an art of just describing it. It makes for better chances than drab, vague and cold, unemotional data pertaining to the subject, but not giving the reader the sense that this place exists. You want to make this project sound like it is bringing to the Elder Scrolls what the developers missed, or the many modders over the years have only dreamed of, and the mod downloaders have anticipated with unspoken yearning.

 

If you need help, feel free to PM me. I would be more than happy to write you up a nice presentation. All I need from you is the data. The cold, hard, drab statistical facts. (but nothing vague) (And I say statistical because I'ma sucker for numbers)

Tell me everything you plan on doing, everything you imagine could be, and everything you need, everything you can do yourself, and how long you expect this to take. Tell me everything about it, boring or not, and I will make it exciting for people to read,. I will make it so that people will feel as though they can not pass the opportunity to be a part of this mod.
