GECK Editing Problem

Okay the thing is when i try to edit an interior to another persons mod it works when looking at it in GECK, but when you get to the game it doesnt show up.

Example

I downloaded a house mod. When i went to open it in GECK all i wanted to do was add a TV to it for my game. So i go inside the house with GECK and add the TV to a spot where i would like it. I then save it as a different file. Now i thought that it would just be there but when i went to check the house it was like nothing was ever edited. I tried several times in different cases but im wondering what im doing wrong. Is there something else i should be doing? Or does it just not load?

One other thing when i then try to re-open the original file with my modded file it for some reason has two duplicate interiors? maybe that has something to do with it?

Most likely the mod your are trying to edit is an ESM - which cannot be modified. If you do attempt to modify an ESM, when you save the Geck will ask you for a new file name. This means you are making a totally new mod. You would then have to load this mod after the original that you tried to modify. A better solution would be to get a utility such as FO3Edit and use it to change your original mod back into an ESP so you can edit it directly. You would then not be asked for new file name when saving the mod. You can then use FO3Edit to turn the mod back into an ESM before playing it.

One thing about loading mods in the Geck. The mod you want to edit MUST be set as the Active File. You must highlight the mod in the list of mods and click the "Set as Active File" button. The text next to this mod should then change from "Pluggin File" to "Active File". Then you click OK to load that mod for editing. If the text next to the mod says "Master File" then you CANNOT set it as an Active File. In this case, if you load a Master for editing, you will be asked for a new file name and will then create a new mod. This is most likely what you have been doing.

Duplicates come from having two or more cells/objects with the same name. The Geck doesn't like this and will change the name of the second one and add the "duplicate" test to the end of the name the next time the file is loaded.
