Ltstrom
okay i have found a link to youtube that covers uv mapping it is a part tutorial (part 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRcu7fbRBlA personally if you want to texture the item you have made from blender i would use nifskope as it is made for textures and importing for fallout 3. btw make sure you nif scripts to allow blender to read and export as NIF files. neomonkeus
If you want to model using Blender you will need to UV unwrap it otherwise it wont export. That tutorial also is a bit dated as you can export directly to the desired nif format without the need to copy paste nif blocks using the nifskope. I would suggest learning how to do the basics, such as modelling, material, texturing & UV unwrapping but not Fallout specific ones. One you are comfortable with the processes then you can then move towards getting your models ingame as there are the additonal steps of making collison boxs etc. Although im mainly a props modeller, it is quite simple to get certain types of object to work with little interaction for the nifskope, even basic animations can be generated in .kf form, which can be merged into the nif. If you wish to model, chances are that you will have to learn to uv unwrap and inturn texture. Im not saying it cant be done in the nifskope, I have no experience in regards this but I think you may find it easier in the longterm. If you need any help drop me a pm. funkidud3
Getting into modelling can be hard, I tried doing this a while ago, I was trying to make clothes and amour, This can be very hard and I ended up giving up after about a month of clueless moving about, so you may wish to stick to general models before moving into armour and clothes if that's what you are thinking about. neomonkeus
Getting the basic models like statics or anim statics ingame is actually very easy, make a mesh, add a material, UV, texture, add a coll box done! For the more exotic stuff you will need to transfer over to the nifskope where complicated things like adding in additional data notes to you model. I am quite inexperience with the nifskope and havent had the opportunity to learn it fully yet. Once you learn to transfer data between nifs then you should be able to do lots of thingslike swapping gun meshes with custom ones etc. What exactly are you trying to make?
