akatsuki555
The sounds in my game in most cutscenes and animations play about 5 seconds after the action. For example when Duncan kills Ser Jory, the sounds of their fight start after Jory is already dead.I have updated my sound drivers to the latest and it's still like that. Game version is 1.04. I'm running Windows 7 32bit, my specs are Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.60Ghz, 3Gb RAM, graphic card ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series. Anyone know how to fix this??? Thandal
In a word, RAM. You're pushing the lower below the recommended 4GB for a Vista/Win7 system, and DA is a real memory hog.
akatsuki555
The sounds were ok during the first three/four playthroughs. Besides it's the same even if I play it on XP (Dual-Boot).

Besides it's the same even if I play it on XP (Dual-Boot).Ahhh, then it begins to seem more like a disk de-frag, and/or other housekeeping issue. Especially since you've tried the old "When mysterious new behavior presents itself on a Windows box, re-boot and see if that clears it!" approach, (as evidenced by "Same problem when I dual-boot to XP.") It's possible that the 1.04 patch actually made things worse for you, (I know they updated the Windows audio interface files) but I'd still look to more RAM as the fastest high-probability fix. For one thing, that has the added bonus of providing benefits for you OUTSIDE of Dragon Age!
akatsuki555
Come to think of it, I think that this started to occur after the installation of 1.04. Oh well I'll reinstall the game tomorrow and update just to 1.03 and see if it's better. AND I've noticed that sounds are just fine in Awakening.... ehhh It's about time for me to buy a new PC, or a laptop...
akatsuki555
Alright... I've reinstalled DA:O and.. well there is no difference on Win7, but... on XP the sounds are just right.... I think I'll just buy more RAM.... Edit: HA!! I've run Dragon Age on compatibility for XP. Everything is fine!! One more thing, where is the difference between DA on XP and on 7?? I don't see any graphic changes...For now I'll play like that, until my next pay when I'll buy more RAM

Have to add that to the "Possible Solutions" library. As to your follow-up question, except for hardware related issues (e.g. max RAM limitations, or a driver defect for a particular OS) there should be NO difference in the game under any flavour of Windows. akatsuki555
Just a short update: I've bought 4GB of RAM, and got my 32bit Win7 to 64bit, and now I have 7GB of RAM. The sounds on Win7 are perfect! Problem completely solved!!!
