AxlDave
So I've been asking this question every month or so, trying not to clog up the forums with spam topics. I need someone who can create impact decals. I can't, I've tried and failed despite using several tutorials and nifty gadgets like Z-brushes. I guess I just suck at textures. But there must be someone out there who can help, right? I want to release the NV version of this mod, and I have everything done except those darn impact decals. And I really need those to make the mod complete. My previous requests have not received many responses. Is what I'm asking difficult, or boring? Do the texturers not hang around the forums anymore? Or are impact decals a notoriously tricky thing that nobody has the time to take on?
thebestdamncourier
Sorry to say its probably because it just requires a lot if skill that hi one seems to have anymore.
weijiesen
For claws, best thing to do would be to go on Deviant Art or a similar site, and download "Blood Style" styles for Photoshop. Photoshop is free for students.Install the Style to photoshop by double-click it when PS is open.Just open a new image in PS, with no bg (just alpha), using hte brush tool, paint three lines (like claw marks) using a gray'ish brush, or gray gradient color brush. Then on the right-side, click on the Blood style to apply it to the layer, and *poof* your painted lines will be transformed into blood-looking ones! You can download stone, metal, and other Styles too for the other claw marks.Use CrazyBump to make generate a normal map (or simply just use Photoshop's Nvidia Normal map filter plugin) to automatically make one. Then make new texture set in GECK.Its a simple operation really, as the photoshop Style does 90% of the work. The other 10% is just setting up the Decal, and ImpactData/ImpactDataSet in GECK
