Improved Blood Mage Specialization

I know I'm not the only one who was vastly disappointed with the Blood Mage specialization. Before I discovered mods, I, for one, found the Blood Mage specialization appalling. Blood Sacrifice was totally useless and downright dumb to use if you didn't have a ranger pet, and Blood Control was glitched. Out of all the spells, only Blood Wound was useful, and even then, it wasn't worth the spec point just for that spell alone.

Compared to people like Uldred, who had an army of demons and abominations at his command, the Blood Mage specialization was a joke. I just didn't feel like the badass maleficar that the class was supposed to be.

So, I was thinking that maybe instead of gaining four new skills, you gain an entire school of magic when you take the class up. I've seen this done for Warrior specializations and the Arcane Warrior specialization, so I think it's time someone gave the Blood Mage class the love it deserves.

Here's some ideas I had:

Demonology School:

Summon Rage Demon --- Comes with Fire Blast, Fireball. Attacks are fire elemental.

Summon Hunger Demon --- Debuff spells.

Summon Sloth Demon --- Comes with Sleep, Horror, and Waking Nightmare.

Summon Desire Demon --- Comes with... I dunno.

Abomination School:

Faustian Pact --- Sustained ability. Become a semi-abomination! Causes health degeneration in exchange for decreased spell cooldown, casting time, and a spellpower bonus. You also have a penalty to mental resistance. This sustained ability also brings about a 'fatigue'-like effect to health.

Terrifying Presence --- Passive ability. People tend to fear abominations. While Faustian Pact (or True Abomination) is active, enemies in the immediate area around you now suffer a penalty to attack, defense, and attack speed unless they pass a constant mental resistance check.

Strength of Will --- Passive ability. You are strong-willed enough to actively resist demonic influence in the Fade. As such, while Faustian Pact is active, the mental resistance penalty is negated, and the health degeneration you suffer is cut in half.

True Abomination --- Sustained "shapeshift" ability. You can now take a form that even Uldred would fear. You are now able to make a pact to take on the form of a Pride Demon, with all of its powers, in order to let it see through your eyes. This form uses melee attacks, and gives a bonus to strength proportional to that of your magic stat.

Blood Manipulation School:

Taint Blood: Think Blood Wound, but without the freezing effect and with more DPS.

Corpse Harvest: Sustained ability. Any dead enemy around you - as long as it can bleed - now provides health regeneration and a small, stackable spellpower bonus. The downside: You now have a fatigue-like penalty to your health, and you take more damage per hit.

Blood Feast: AoE Drain Life

Infuse Demon: Sustained ability. You are able to plant a demon in a corpse, turning that corpse into a thrall that fights for you. Works on anything that isn't a boss... including ogres. Must be able to bleed for it to work.

What do you guys think?

Hehe, you've got some nice ideas, the Blood Manipulation sounds good. As for summoning demons.... well that... won't end up well, will it... remember what happened to Avernus and the Grey Wardens... As for the abomination school, why not just become an abomination.. that would spare some time.

Anyway, if we ignore the facts.. this is a pretty good idea.

I do not care how long ago this thread was started, this idea is interesting and gives you a class worth being afraid of. I love it. There are a few loopholes concerning the whole, demons in your body part. I would think they'd be more prone to breaking packs and promises and using your meat sack of a body to do as they will. But otherwise, I love this idea.
