Freeing Kvatch, but no random gates

So having played over 40 hours now with my character, and not having started the main quest at all yet (I don't even have the amulet of kings yet; Alternative Start and all that), I'd like to start working on freeing Kvatch so the Kvatch Rebuilt mod kicks in. But I don't want random oblivion gates to ruin the landscape.

So my question is: If I close the Kvatch gate and go along with the soldiers to finish the two missions (Breaking the Siege and The Battle for Castle Kvatch), will random gates immediately start popping up, or can I safely finish those two missions and then continue enjoying the pristine landscape?

If I recall correctly what triggers the random gates is escorting Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple. If you don't interact with Martin you'll be fine.

Thanks, I read something on the UESP about finishing that quest opening up 10 random gates, but I couldn't quite make out if that was the first occurrence of random gates.

According to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion_Gates#Random_Gates the first 10 random gates appear immediately after completing the "find the heir" quest (up to 25 of them), which starts after you deliver the amulet to Jauffre. That jives with my experience in the game (I've done those two quests without delivering the amulet and didn't run into any gates).

That's the passage I was referring to, indeed. ;-)

Thanks for the help.

Yep, I can verify that's true. I built a mod that changes how the random gates open (including turning them off completely if you want to), so I had to mess with those settings. If you're interested it's the second mod in my signature.
