dwk
I am about to upgrade my system and I noticed that on the min req's for oblivion, it says you must have a 8x DVD ROM. Do you actually have to have a DVD drive to play this game or can you also play it in the regular CD drive?
Guest
I am about to upgrade my system and I noticed that on the min req's for oblivion, it says you must have a 8x DVD ROM. Do you actually have to have a DVD drive to play this game or can you also play it in the regular CD drive? There is no option for anyone still mired in the dark ages of hardware, no. The game is only offered in DVD format, no other, unless you cound D2D as a "media". Be sure you take into account the NORMAL usage of what Minimum and Recommended actually mean in regard to requirements. Recommended does work, and amounts to the basic setup. You have a guarantee from Bethesda you can play with good visuals and decent speed with that level of components. Minimums offer no such guarantee, and in fact there is a serious screwup about those, apparently caused by poor cooperation from nVidia as a result of a Sour Grapes attitude. Ignore all of the FX 5xxx video cards, every single one. They are broken. The Geforce 6200 is a slovenly slow slug. Ignore it also. The Vanilla 6600 is borderline, at best. The Radeon 9550 and most Radeon 9600 cards are borderline and below (9550 the worst). Kiwi * *
