TSotP
I'm curently putting together a new character so that i can play as Kain from the Legacy of Kain games.I've already got a mod for the Soul Reaver, And i can add the relevent skills via the console (Devour, Drain, etc). But the one thing i cannot seem to do is steal Loghains voice. So, could someone with the skill out there make a simple mod that allows you to pick Loghains Voice from the character creation menu? TSotP
I've found a tutorial on how to create a new sound set, but to be completly honest, it means nothing to me. But i thought i'd add it in here to help if anyone plans to take up my mod request. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/73/index/469797/2#1740639
DarkeWolf
I know that you can change the players' soundset thru a savegame edit in the toolset. By simply finding the line that controls what voice is used, and then changing it to something else. Now, I am NOT at home right now, so I cannot open up a savegame and take a look thru to tell you which one and where it is. I will go back and do that when I get home, however. Most of the npc's soundsets are named something very simple like ss_morrigan, ss_alistair, etc.So I'll take a look at that when I get home from school tonight, and post the relevant information that would allow you to edit a savegame to use that voice. Now I will also go ahead and mention that while I HAVE heard of this being done, I personally have not done so, and can't guarentee that there won't be a bug or two with it. I can also go ahead and mentioned that I HAVE tried to export a NPC's soundset from the toolset. And can honestly say... I dont recommend trying to do it. The attempt absolutely ruins the character's voice in the game. They end up sounding like some of those really old "Please...press...1.... if....you...wish....to..." answering systems. Monotone, really patchy voice quality, slow.... its bad.But I'll get back to you with the info you need, when I get home tonight. ;)OBTW- EXCELLENT Guyver avatar there!
DarkeWolf
Ok, here's what you're going to need to do to change your character's voice to use loghain's soundset, via a savegame edit in the toolset. Ok, open up the toolset, and go to file/open. Direct the explorer window to go to documents/bioware/dragon age/characters/"charactername"/saves/choose the most recent savegame slot (will have the highest number)choose "savegamename".das (not .das.met) ** Click the + next to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR** Go down one and click the + next to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR ** Scroll down, down, down, til you find - SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET and SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSETthere you will find two entries of the vanilla voices that you chose during the character creation. On the line that reads SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET Go over and click on where it reads ss_pc_"whatever". Now type in ss_loghain And save the file. Leave the toolset, and this file open, and go test it in the game, loading up the savegame in DA, that you just edited.I am NOT sure whether the SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSET will Also need to have ss_loghainedited into it or not, for this to work. I am assuming that you need to, but being unsure, I'm telling to take it one step at a time ;)BUT... if it does, then the file is right there, still open for you to edit it. And should be very easy to do. AND- if you wanna perform a small cheat for 999 inventory items while you have this open- go to savegame_partylistsavegame_max_items and change it to 999save and when you load the save you can now carry 999 items just don't buy any backpack after that or it will reset to 125 Now, as I said, I do know that this will work. I've changed the soundsets on NPC's before. And changed the soundsets on the ss_pc_"whatever" to change THOSE soundsets. (tho its been a very long time ago, which is why I can't remember if both those entries need to be edited for sure, or not. But I think that they do. However, I havent ever edited them for a NPC soundset, so I'm not sure if those have ALL the voice entries. Like when you open up a crate, door, but I do know that the full range of combat sayings will be there. Hope that this helps :)

DarkeWolf
Thanks! :) A terrific compliment :) And if that new kudos is from you, thank you for that as well :)You are VERY welcome. Seeing somebody interested in creating something like this, and helping them to do it is a great reward. I am glad that I could help. ;) I would go ahead and recommend not keeping that new backpack completely full. That many items will cause a longer load/save time on your savegames. But its definitely nice not having to worry about when you NEED to get to a merchant! ;) Now.... I might go so far as to hope that once you get your guy rolling, that we'll see some action pics of him strutting his stuff and kicking arse ;) :Dhttp://www.dragonagenexus.com/members/imageshare/add.php Edit- Also, thanks for the comfirmation on the both of those lines needing to be edited. As I said, its been quite a while since I had done that in a savegame, and couldnt remember for sure. Kudos for the reminder ;)
