PondJumper1
I've asked the internet many times over the years about this. Every time I get the same answers just put it in the music folder. Well I've done that and it works but that's not what I'm wanting. I want to add folders to the music folder that the construction set will recognize. It would seem to me that if you were making an editing tool you'd make it simple by having all assigning of music tasks just pull from the music folder. Apparently Bethesda didn't think so because adding a folder to the music directory does nothing and when you go to assign a music type to a world space the added folders don't show up. I know about the music mod but I'd rather not install another overhaul. Surely there must be a simple solution to this?
DrakeTheDragon
The music types are hardcoded into the engine to the folders there are present initially. User-added music types with their respective folders were never meant to be possible, and can only be achieved by mods recreating or overhauling the engine's internal music system, mostly via means of the Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) and respective OBSE "plugins" (DLLs), the only tool in existence able to overcome game engine limitations such as this. The Construction Set was never meant to enable you to 'change the game'. It was only meant as a means for Bethesda to easier create the actual game data contents, after the game engine's limitations and boundaries had already been set in stone by the developers. And then it got even stripped of certain developer-only features afterwards, before being released for the customers to do their modding with. I'm not even sure you can use the custom music types as introduced via these OBSE plugin enabled means just the same way as the hardcoded ones either. But they do open up ways to assign certain music types to certain locations, last time I checked. I'm just not sure if it's done the same way as Vanilla or if it's rather via script-controlled means instead.
