Trask
It's been a while since I played Fallout 3 but i remember there was something "off" last time I did. Now that I decided to take it out for another spin I realised what the problem was. Last time I had gotten me a decent widescreen-display that takes up a big chunk of my field of vision, and while I'm not having my nose pressed against the screen it's pretty close to face. Fallout 3 isn't all that pleasant for me to look at now, and I realised it might have to do with the monotonous lightning-effect when playing outside (ingame), Borderlands had this problem too. Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2, are much easier on the eyes and after checking out the developers commentary in the first game I think I know why. Valve has used vignetting to both make the movement of the camera a less jarring visual experience and focus the players attention to the center of the screen. Now for people that don't know what vignetting is (I didn't), here's some easy explanation and a few images on different colour-intensities: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignettingandhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturation_%28color_theory%29Thanks wikipedia. If more people have this problem couldn't vignetting be a good idea for a mod? I don't know how hard it would be to implement but I hope someone's willing to give it a try.
