What is the actual size of a .308 bullet (top to bottom)?

I'm trying to make an ammo container/activator.

I've got the right proportions but no idea of the actual size.

It's actually a commercial version of 7.62x51mm NATO...it's just the same. So it's 7.62x51mm, lol.
