aprilius20
Hi there, I've created an online profile at Bioware but it's just... well, I've nothing to say about it.I want to take user screenshots, but although I'm logged in when I press PrtScrn, and make sure to 'hard save' just in case, nothing ever shows up on the site when I click Screenshots or Manage Screenshots. Is there any way to reroute user screenshots so they go to my HDD instead of to the black hole that is social.bioware.com? Thanks for any help:)
Thandal
Hi there, I've created an online profile at Bioware but it's just... well, I've nothing to say about it.I want to take user screenshots, but although I'm logged in when I press PrtScrn, and make sure to 'hard save' just in case, nothing ever shows up on the site when I click Screenshots or Manage Screenshots. Is there any way to reroute user screenshots so they go to my HDD instead of to the black hole that is social.bioware.com? Thanks for any help:)They do automagically go to your HDD. They're under your profile "\[user's documents]\bioware\dragon age\...[something]" (I'm not at my system and can't remember if it's "characters" or not. ) Anyway, there's a whole folder named "screenshots", and under that, one named "user" That's where all the ones you take with the "PrtScrn" button go. (The other one, I think it's called "campaign", is where the ones the game takes go if you checked that automagic box in your "Options".) NOTE: 1. All the filnames are just unique numbers, nothing there to identify the contents. 2. The file headers contain "non-standard" info that gives the context if you view the image in-game or on-line at the BioWare site. To use JUST the image, open it with your favorite graphics program (I just use "Paint" for this stuff) and save it again under a new (perhaps more descriptive?) name. Hope that helps! aprilius20
@Thandal: Hey there, thanks for the answer. Yup, I know of that folder- but only the Achievements and Story folders have pictures in them- the User folder is empty. In the meantime, a friend directed me to a third party application which I'm using right now (XFire). Not exactly what I wanted (clogging up my com with more little programs again), but it does the trick. Thanks for the help though!
RustyBlade
The correct method is to find the file called dragonage.ini in your My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings folder and open it with notepad. Then find the section marked [OnlineOptions]. A few lines down from that should be a line that says AutoUploadScreenshot=1, change it so it reads AutoUploadScreenshot=0 and it should save them to your My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Sceenshots\User folder. aprilius20
@Rustyblade: Hmm, I read abut that somewhere, but I thought it was only for the Steam version of the game? Thanks though, will give it a try later;)
Thandal
Wow, I've never experienced the screenshots NOT going to my local HDD. If, and only if, I've checked the "upload automatically" box, using the "Options" menu, do they go to my on-line profile. (Which I don't want happening and disabled as soon as I discovered it anyway! ) (Hey, RB! You must be a coder or administrator. You keep telling people how to get into the guts of the config files when most probably should/would want to stick to the UI. Makes it MUCH easier to undo later, if desired, since they won't have to keep track of all the minutae! )
aprilius20
@Thandal: Yeah, I unchecked it. Web uploading didn't do anything for me either- I watched it zoom up to somewhere around 45% and then vanish into the Fade. :ninja: lol. Normally I don't dare touch all that, but if it's a one-liner like what Rusty suggested, I don't mind giving it a try...

aprilius20
@All: Nope, nothing happened. Unless you count my game taking slightly longer to load^^;
Thandal
So now we have to start wondering what's "different" about your installation. I won't be able to check/confirm paths, files, or settings until I'm back at my machine. But maybe RB has some thoughts...?
