cryocry
I hope this is good. I've got all the official plugins, and have been checking daily for new official plugins. The latest mod is still Mehrunes Razor. I hope this stop of official plugins is a good sign. One that means they are working on an expansion pack? Ubertheman
an expension pack costs far more, but you also get far more. i want an expansion
Stampede
Yea, I too think we deserve an expansion. Paying a couple of dollars for poorly made mods is no longer the kind of support I expected Bethesda to give their 'ultimate' title. Don't hold your breath waiting for one though. cryocry
an expension pack costs far more, but you also get far more. i want an expansion Yes, and with an expansion, you actually get more interesting stuff. I hope they release one. I thought Cyrodiil was big, and I already am bored with Oblivion. They need more factions and more miscelaneous quests. And, if they do release and expansion, to have a bigger main quest.
loveme4whoiam
Nah, like Stampede said, don't expect an expansion any time soon. What with Bethsoft doing Fallout 3 (woo!) and this new Star Trek game Legacy (please be good please be good ) I doubt they have much time for one unless they specifically made it part of their brief to do one, and they have a massive team (dunno their numbers). If only they'd give modders the proper tools we wouldn't require an expansion pack dammit! *Goes off on a well-rehearsed and oft-heard complaining rant*

If only they'd give modders the proper tools we wouldn't require an expansion pack dammit! *Goes off on a well-rehearsed and oft-heard complaining rant* Most of the tools are decent for making large, complex mods. It's the lack of a good nif importer/exporter, and the demand for some extra scripting functions that seems to be the main restraint for doing anything too spectacular. That, and all the work involved. But, you have to realize, while they're trying to be mod friendly, they still have to protect their formats. So they can't really release all the tools you may want, and you'd still need a decent 3dmodeling program and image program to do anything with them. More importantly, it took them how long to get Tribunal done and shipped? And that expansion was considdered to be the smallest and worst of them by many gamers. Oblivion has only been out a few months now. Even if they had started working on the expansion the moment the game was shipped to retailers, without even letting the product make back it's costs before making new costs, they wouldn't have very much done by now. As much as we may all want an expansion to add new things to play with, I wouldn't expect one within the year. If it was, it couldn't be very large. If anything, their current slow down of releasing official mods is probably because the response to them has been in wanting more. Therefore, hopefully, further official mods will be slightly better. That and there are certainly enough bugs in the current game that they should probably fix before working on an expansion. Without the modding community making mods that fix this stuff I don't know how Oblivion could be playable. I feel sorry for anyone using the x-box version. Too bad they don't have a program that you check boxes that you want in a script (has a lot of options, like set health...on equip, or put a..._feet away from user) and then writes the script for you. I can't figure out how to write a script (yet, I hope).
Vagrant0
Yeah. Too bad they don't have a program that you check boxes that you want in a script (has a lot of options, like set health...on equip, or put a..._feet away from user) and then writes the script for you. I can't figure out how to write a script (yet, I hope). Something like that is easy... scn XXhealthScript Begin onequip player modpca health 20end Begin onunequip playermodpca health -20end And attaching that script to a piece of equipment. But really, just setting an enchantment would be easier. Any of the scripts something like that could put together wouldn't be too useful for all but beginning modders due to the the complexity of some scripts. Even then, it wouldn't really be a good thing since those modders wouldn't actually learn anything about scripting, so should they need to know something more complicated, they'll either end up asking, or trying to use that program to get the job done. I'm fairly sure that Beth staff did all their scripting manually. When it comes to most of the main scripts, this is the only way they could have done it. It would also have taken them longer to click all those boxes which might not have gotten them the right effect, than it would them just writing the script. Even if you aren't a pro, if you use something like TES Construction Set Wiki and get some idea of what various blocktypes and functions do, you could still probably piece together the desired effect faster than trying to use some program to do the typing for you.
