jdudley
I know this has been asked a million times, but i'd greatly appreciate the input. Will this run with an okay integrated graphics card? I can run morrowind pretty well on full settings, besides some draw distance. I even run some graphic enhancing mods like better bodies. I'm only asking this because i want to run this on my laptop so i can take it with me. I dont want to buy it if i can only use it on my home computer. My laptop also has a duel processor and 4 Gb of ram. My chip is a Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Yougamers says its a Intel GMA X4500MHD? I'm not sure if thats right, because my laptop diagnostics just says its a intel 4 series express. Everything else is correct that yougamers says though. How can i check that? Now that i've looked around though, it seems like that its a graphic accelerator? I still dont know if its right, anyone comfirm?). And if this helps anyone, i can run mount and blade warband with only slight frame drops in maxed battle size. Everything else runs at about 40 fps. Let me know if you need to know anything else about my system. I greatly appreciate if you can help me.And another thing, I can run morrowind in city's at around 30 fps WITH the morrowind visual pack and at 1280x1040. I think thats the resolution, i cant check at the moment.
BFG99
Well, your CPU and RAM is likely sufficient...but a lot of people have had trouble trying to run Oblivion on just a GMA. My guess would be that you would be able to run Oblivion, but it would be at a low resolution and with minimal settings (thinking 800x600 and low texture settings etc.). I'd personally recommend giving it a try. If you're not able to run the full-blown Oblivion, you may be able to use Oldblivion, a modified version of Oblivion that is designed to work with weaker graphics chips. I don't know anything about Oldblivion personally but it's allowed a lot of people to enjoy this game that wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Edit: I may be wrong about that. I found a thread on another board where a user with very similar specs reported he was able to run Oblivion "fairly smoothly" at 1024x768 and Medium detail. So you'll probably be fine! Edit 2: I'm assuming you're running Windows Vista or 7. If so, what's your "Windows Experience" index for Gaming Graphics? If it's at least 3.0 you're probably fine. albonaut
Just an afterthought. If you want to know what your computer is running for hardware and software and such, give Belarc Advisor a try. It's a great little program that works wonders for telling you what your computer is made of. And it's free! Anyhow I hope Oblivion runs good on your laptop for you!
