multiple crashing issues

recently I have been trying to play new vegas using the 4gb version but was confronted with a multitude of problems. Lately the game has been crashing a lot, heres the gist of it. I usually play new vegas through fomm with the "LaunchNVSE" option. If i try to play it straight through steam i get to the main menu and after i click continue is crashes saying "FalloutNV has stopped working", similarily if I click the 4gb shortcut the same thing happens also with the custom fomm launch option for the 4gb, it simply says it has stopped working. But if I launch it the way I usually do "Launch NVSE" through fomm it starts up and after about 10-15 minutes it crashes my computer entirely forcing me to restart. I cold really use some help with this and im beginning to think it might be due to my mod load order. any help would be greatly appreciated.
