Female voice problem

I installed the Equal love mod and Cullen crush on male mages mod. After I faced the gauntlet, I realised, that I sounded like a female, so I decided to uninstall both of them, but when I face myself in the gauntlet, I still sound like a female, and in the epilogue, I am still refered to as "she". I've tried to start a new game but the annoying bug persists! MADDENING!!! If anyone can help, please do. Kudos for anyone who helps.

Ok, I am assuming of course, that you're running a male character, yes?

In the epilogues.... is the "she" references when you're seeing slides in regards to relationships, or all the time? If its in regards to relationships, is it when its discussing a relationship that was same gender?

The epilogues have no way of dealing with same gender relationships. So if its f2f it will regard the character as male. He/His/etc with Morrigan/Leliana. And She/Her/etc for Alistair/Zev. Not really considered to be a bug, as the vanilla game didnt include same gender relationships.

As for the voice.... have you done any work with the voices files in the toolset? The TS can really bug the character voice files if you try to mess with them. They end up sounding like a generic answering machine from way back in the 80's that uses a female sounding voice.

The solution there, is to go thru your documents/bioware/dragon age folders and delete out any and all files that are in the toolset folders. And there are multiple folders there, so you kinda just have to hunt thru them. Or have windows do a search for toolset and then find them that way.

I also remember a mention quite a while back about corrupted or missing talktable files causing some of the voices and names to get screwed up, but I didnt understand it, and thus dont remember what was said. And cant find that thread now

No, I didn't do anything with the voice files, but the thing that was most annoying, was that "she" in the epilogue. But now, that I know why, I guess I'll have to survive it... And, yes, I play a male. Also, the female voice was not coming from my char, but from the "ghost" of my character. Thanks for replying :)

It's been a long time since I played without "Equal Love", installed, but IIRC the vanilla game Epilogue slides used the correct feminine pronoun for my PC even when referring to her relationship with Leli. I expect that the reverse would be true for a male PC who's LI were Zevran, since those two NPCs were romanceable by either gender right from the start (no mod needed!)

After installing "Equal Love", the incorrect pronoun was used whenever the LI was one of the "unanticipated" (I reject the term "incorrect") ones. Throughout the game, if I were playing a female PC and romanced Morri, any LI-specific Dialogue or Epilogue would refer to the Warden as "he/him/his". And I would hear/see "she/her/hers" when playing a male in a relationship with Big Al.

Being bilingual (or at least, once being bilingual  ) I found it hardly even noticable, and certainly not annoying. I just did the mental pronoun substitution on the fly. I knew what was meant, and that it was my own choice to mod the game that caused the issue.

This did NOT occur in discussions regarding Leli. She stayed a "she".

Hmmmm. VERY interesting info Thandal. Once again, thanks for the correction. I have always had the morrigan romance with a female character and was always getting the he/him/his remarks in the eps. And of course as a femme, there's no problem with the Al romance. Never could get past the leli bug romance and zev I ended up killing when I romanced him. HEHEHE.

But yeah, there is definitely spots where you get referred to as the wrong gender with those unanticipated romances. Tho I personally won't complain about it, since I usually play femme characters, and enoy romancing morrigan ;) I'd rather have a few inconsistancies than not get my kisses after a big fight ;)

Rammo- cool! I didnt know that there was a fix for it, I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the tip! Kudos!

Ok, now I'm curious. I am wondering if it gives you the female voice due to a romance with another male character. I can honestly say that I cant remember by fights with my doppleganger since I havent played in quite a while. Or if like I said, its an issue with a talktable file. Hrm :(

Thanks, the fix also fixes alot of bugs in the end, like Alistair referring to himself as king, even, when you choose Anora. Don't worry about the doppleganger thing, I can live with it :) One very important thing, Thandal, did you choose to stay or keep traveling or rebuild the wardens? Beacouse if you chose to stay, I think that Zevran or Leliana would refer to you as their beloved, but the other choices are considerably bugged.

Yeah, the multitude of glitches with the Post-Coronation dialogues and the Epilogue slides not tracking with your previous choices/relationship(s) are pretty well documented.

I use a combination of mods for that stuff: "Qwinn's Unofficial FixPack v2", "Morrigan Restoration Patch" (with the "Zevran Dialogue Fix" add-on), "Dialogue Tweaks", "GateKisses", and "Eplilogue Slide Fixes" at the moment. (There are Alistair and Leliana ones as well.)

The point being that those problems have nothing to do with your PC's gender! :teehee:
