Very Simple Request on a GSW rescale to LSW

Just wondering if anyone would mind taking the time to do a quick shrink of the greatsword model 1 in the toolset. The 2 hander that looks similar in shape to the orlesian longsword. Like I say it's the first standard model in the toolset.

I admit I've been stumbling through tutorials on how to do it myself, but am completely lost and frustrated. lol I'd like to have that sword as a longsword, retexed into a greyscale ..... i did the retex myself and got it to look right in DATool just by using the greyscale function in Jasc PSP.

Would like a small version of that first GSW model in the toolset and a small version of the Ageless model gsw.(and by small i mean normal lsw size)

I would be very appreciattive if someone could do this up as a mod for me. Thanks!

just a note ... I even have the files you'd need to do everything so the real effort should be removed completely ;)

have you taken a look at this article for scaling the DA items using DAtool? Its a very easy process.

Keep in mind tho that if you rescale that particular model, that any other weapon that also uses that model will also be scaled ;)

As for the textures, thats really not my field. So I'm afraid that I cant really help you out with that. But, if the other files needed for them to work, dont need to be altered, it MIGHT work by just dropping your tex files into the documents/bioware/dragonage/packages/core/override folder.

Good luck! :)

@ Darkewolf ... thanks alot for the tut ..... got everything working po problems. However, with the tutorial you gave me it won't let me use a gsw as a lsw because the tut just shows you how to override the orig models.

I would still like to be able to take that one gsw that looks like it's been made out of wood (similar blade-style to the Orlesian LS) and truck aorund with as a longsword. This is where I'm hitting my speed bumps ...... to begin with my knowledge of modding, and the files and all other stuff involved with modding is serverely limited. Being a single Dad my times to sit and figure things all out is also very limited. To top it all off I don't have MS Excel so have been forced to try to use Open Office amoung other free software apps that let you edit xls files. Something I have even less knowledge about, and it seems most tutorials deal with Excel.

Circus- well, I am glad to hear that the tut worked for you, in that aspect, and that you were able to get it resized. And you're very welcome :)

Ok, now what you're talking about, could possibly be a whole lot more work. You've got two options.

1) Use a mod that allows you to use 2h weapons as 1h weapons. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11 This would allow you to dual wield it, along with another greatsword, or a longsword, dagger, axe, etc. AND this mod comes up so that you can set it up to mod just the greatswords, just the battle axes, or just the mauls. OR all of them. HOWEVER, because of the mechanics of the game engine, this mod WILL NOT ALLOW 2h skills to be used, when these particular items are being wielded. Because they are no longer 2h weapons.

You will also need to have dual weapon skill at Mastery level, in order to DW them with another sword/axe. otherwise, all you can use is the gws and a dagger. Or sword and board, if you're using shield skills ;)

There's also some mods that allow mages to DW, if you want this for an arcane warrior. I went to the search http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/search.php and typed in hand and found some relevant mods, when I was looking up the mod that affects the 2h weapons ;)

2) Second choice it to totally create a new weapon, using the altered model as it's base. Now unforutunately on a couple of points.... 1) You'll need to rename all of those model files from GSW to LSW and change the number at the end so that it doesnt conflict with an existing model and it's files.

2) And this is where I am lost. You'll have to create a file in the toolset which will allow the game to see these new models, as well as create the new weapon that uses them.

It is actually EASIER, to rename those models as a longsword that is already in the game, that you dont want, and use the new model as a replacer. Then just create the new weapon using the replacer model.

3) you have to create the script that will insert the new weapon into the game. Either by putting it in a chest, on a vendor, or directly on the player.

And this is the stuff that gets me lost. I've never done it before :(

So I fear that I have to apologize to you for that. I can however, give you a link to some tutes, and hope that you have a better job of figuring them out than I did :(

Ugh. I know what you mean about time being hard to get. Good luck, especially with taking care of yourself and the family on your own.
