New Mage Apprentice Dialogue Help

I just made a new mage apprentice NPC in the Arcane University, and I cannot get it to do the 'follow me' or 'nevermind' commands that all the normal 'stock' apprentices give you when you activate them when you are the Archmage. In the dialogue box of an existing apprentice I found the topics of 'follow me' and 'nevermind' etc but I cannot seem to copy them, and on my new apprentice It does not even let me right click to create a new topic in the topics box(in this case, I would have just duplicated by hand the 'follow me' command and the others)

The first box has the stock apprentice's dialogue, and the second is my new apprentice's dialogue, if this makes it any clearer. I tried drag-and-droping the dialogue, and that was fruitless. I am also having trouble even creating the new topic, like I said before.

If this made sense I would love some feedback. wizzi wizard has been kind enough to be helping me for a little while and he suggested that I throw up a topic for some additional input. Anything would help, thanks!

Dialogs are usually controlled by 2 things, the conditions that call that dialog, and if the player has the topic. The player has the topic since you can use it on other actors. This leaves the conditions that call the dialog. I would look at the conditions that are used for that topic (your screenshot doesn't show them), then see about making sure the same conditions apply to your mage. This could be something as simple as faction, or as complicated as being part of a script.

In short, no NPC owns any actual dialog, it is only because the conditions for that dialog are valid on that NPC that they can say something. This is how you were able to add some of the magesguild dialogs to your NPC without realizing it.

In this case however, the condition checks the actual name of the NPC so that only a certain NPC had that Dialog. This means that you'll either have to add the name of your NPC to that list (may conflict with other mods), or create a copy of that dialog, and make it point to just your NPC (much more complicated, but all changes are exclusive to your mod).
