Sixers2329
I got fallout 3 through steam and in the steam directory for it I clicked the "install geck" shortcut but it installed it in program files/bethesda/fallout 3. I moved all the geck files form there into my steam fallout 3 directory and it all works but if I go to browse textures, like if I wanted to select a water noise texture, it only shows my data folder, like were content from custom mods go and not the stuff from fallout 3. Like even if I click on a worldspace it will tell me the texture map for it doesn't exist. I have a feeling it doesn't know where to look for like the fallout archive. Sorry if I'm confusing, don't quite know what I'm talking about.
neomonkeus
You need to unpack all the assets. In the geck it automatically points to their location but when you browse you lose the path because it cant read the compressed format. Use FOMM to unpack the various .bsa files located in the DATA folder.

neomonkeus
Also I forgot to mention that its the .bsa files in the data folder that need to be unpacked. BSA are actually a file storage structure which is optimized so the game engine can work faster. Using FOMMs unpacker you can choose what folders to unpack so you dont need everything. Its litterally a few clicks and its done. Thats the easy part, welcome to modding :P
