Vagrant0
Exactly the same here. Mind you I still get a CTD if i buy/sell quickly. update: I installed oblivion on a friend's machine and patched 1.2 (no mods), then tried the same things, and noticed it crashing on the same points e.g. zoning, buying items from a merchant quickly. There doesn't seem to be any way to report bugs to bethseda. My friend reckoned it was due to the 'pipes' or something (i should have written it down)... basiclly too much data going to and fro for windows to cope. His machine is 2-3 years old but still above the min. req's. Does anyone else get this? Is there any way to inform bethseda? EDIT: Merged posts. Please don't double post/bump unless the thread's been dead for a week or more. Thanks. - SwitchHow much ram/pagefile did he have? I remember experiencing random crashes often when Oblivion first came out. Was using 512 ram at the time. Upgrading ram worked for me, but without knowing specific causes to your crash, it's haed to say.

Upgrading ram worked for me, but without knowing specific causes to your crash, it's haed to say. My system has 2028 MB page file and 1 gig ram, but the video card eats some of that ram (lousy geforce go 7300 mobile). His had 1 gig ram, windows managed page file, and i can't recall the video card but it was on the oblivion supported list. Toshiba has contacted me and said they might be able to help, but unless i can't negotiate a benchmark i am worried that returning this notebook will mean weeks on not being able to write essays and won't solve the crash issue. My friend's opinion was that the crashes are to do with the 'pixel pipeline' (???) but i have heard elsewhere it's a problem with too much data being shoved around the bus (?). I presume more ram would make the systm more stable. It's much harder to upgrade a notebook than a laptop. When i was buying the notebook i wanted them to upgrad the ram but they said i'd have to buy the extra ram from toshiba and couldn't trade in the ram sitting in the notebook already. Lousy *** computer store *&^!! :glare: Can anyone suggest a good free program to test 3 D capabilities? The weird thing is i left oblivion idle for 8 hours and it happily rotated my character in 3rd person without a hitch but it is very predictable at crashing if i turn or buy too fast. At least with my old 386 playing doom, it just lagged like crazy if you pushed it too hard, it didn't keel over altogether and need rebooting.
