Help: Trying to create a Small Patch for CFW and Weapons of the New Millenia

Hi!

I love the mod packs Classic Fallout Weapons (CFW) and Weapons of the New Millenia (WOTNM), however, with both these mods, there comes a problem:

Redundant weapons: there are duplicate weapons, for example, both packs include the H&K CAWS.

Inconsistent names: The weapons in WOTNM have Heckler and Koch weapons labelled as HK, compared to CFW which is H&K

I have decided to make a small patch that can make these two work even better. I want to rename H&K's to HK, and delete weapons in CFW that WOTNM already has.

I have started to create a .esp that loads:
FalloutNV.esm
CFWNV.esm

And edited the following in CFW:

Beretta m92FS deleted
Sten Gun deleted
ak 47 deleted
steyr aug deleted
H&k Caws deleted
Pancor Jackhammer deleted
Springfield m14 deleted

H&K G11 -->HK G11
H&K L30 Gatling Laser -- >HK L30 Gatling Laser
H&K mp5 --> HK mp5
H&K p90c --> HK p90c

I also renamed the Flamer Pistol to something more Lore-orientated:

Flamer Pistol --> Flambe 100 Flamer Pistol

I also attempted to delete modkits, recipes and unneeded leveled lists...
Deleted Ak47 Modkits
Deleted m14 modkits

However, here is where I have a problem:
I have never modded before, and I would like some help. What files should i delete for modkits, recipes and leveled lists for the removed weapons? I have removed the AK47 modkits, AK47 Scope recipes etc, but the recipe still appears on a workbench.
I feel I did something wrong in my process.

If anyone is willing to help me, I would also like someone to take a look at my .esp file.

Thank You!

You also have to delete the items use info, right click and the option is there. If you don't do this there's a chance the mod will cause infinite loading on game launch, by trying to access records that are no longer there.

Thanks for your reply!

I have loaded the game with just from what I have done, and there is no loading issues.

The problem I am having is that i *think* there are some use info categories that are shared amongst other weapons and I do not want to delete information used for another weapon.

Use FNVEdit to delete the entries from the recipe categories, and anything else you want to delete. Reload the plugin and scan for errors and remove any instances of the deleted forms being in the Form/Leveled Lists.

The p90c is also made by FN not HK.

The FN FAL was never updated to the latest version either, and many of the other guns have incorrect names if you want to fix them.

If you use Project Nevada, the M72 Gauss Minigun is redundant too.

Some other bugs, the Vindicator's should use the 4.7mm caseless ammo, and several of the other guns use incorrect ammo types.

Noted, will Change HK P90c to FN P90c

I have tried using FNV Edit, but there doesnt seem to be away to create an esp to patch over an existing file. It seems you can only modify the existing esp file.

It's simple to create an ESP to modify another esp, select a record in it and copy as override into new plugin.

Download and read the FNVedit training manual, it has a wealth of information in it on how to use it. It's a little outdated and doesn't include newer functions and scripts, but it's all still very valid. It's a must have tool for modding and authoring mods, you can do things with it that you can't with GECK and vice versa.

Thanks, I have read the FNVedit manual and understand a bit better on what I'm doing.

I have been using both GECK and FNVedit. GECK can delete references in lists while in FNVedit, you will have to find them manually. I have found an effective way to use both programs to create this patch.

I have made some progress in removing Recipes. I have to set the categories to NULL in order for them to not appear in the game.

To remove recipes in FNVEdit, right click the record and select delete.

After you have deleted all the ones you want, save and reload the plugin, right click the plugin name, and select scan for errors. If there is any due to the missing references now, find them and remove those too.

Ok, due to an error in my part, I have reverted the renames (So H&K will stay H&K)

I have believed Millenia's weapons used HK, which is false, they use H&K in game, the file description used just HK. No renames are necessary. (Except for P90c)

I have still removed the redundant weapons and modkits from CFW.

I may release this publicly soon.

Any other fixes for this mod?
