TheAcklay
I just bought Fallout 3 GoTY edition from Steam. But whenever I talk to a NPC I get a CTD, there's no CTD for general talking outside of a dialogue with another character, so whatever the problem is it has to do with the dialogue.I haven't installed any mods yet, so I know it can't be a problem with that, and there aren't many mistakes you can make with installation using Steam, so I have no idea what's wrong with the game. Anyways, any help would be appreciated, by the way I'm using Windows 7, if that helps in any way.
TheAcklay
OK, I've been fiddling around a bit more, I haven't solved anything, but I do have some more info.As you know when ever you enter a conversation, the person says something to you, then you get a list of dialogue choices, and any conversation where that happens is where I was getting the CTDs. So a good example is at your 10th B-day party, Amata would immediately talk to you, after which you would normally get a list of dialogue options to choose from, but instead, as soon as Amata starts to talk I get a CTD, while when that other guy(can't remember his name, he's one of Butch's friends), he just says something like: Hi, thanks for inviting me to your party. after which you get no dialogue options and the conversation just ends, I get no CTD. so what ever the issue is is seems like it has something to do with the dialogue options. I've tested it with other NPCs by downloading a save after the vault and I get the same issues, so this isn't a problem with specific NPCs but instead with the entire conversation system. Anyways, after a restart the CTDs stopped, but still the conversation dialogue has no audio or lip-syncing, but the last line of dialogue where a character says Goodbye or whatever, their line is lip-synced and voiced like it's supposed to be. The only solution that comes to mind is, when downloading the game from steam, something didn't download right, and that's causing the problems, but since I have a really slow internet connection I don't really want to try re-downloading and re-installing since it will require almost 24 hours of downloading which I really don't want to go through. Hope this new information helps, but if not, at least I'll still be able to play the game, even if I'm missing out of conversation voices until I find a fix.
