Bernt
Got the go ahead from my wife to buy/build a new gaming rig.I know I want an I-7 and 16Gb ram.But what kind of GPU should I go for, for playing FONV with NMC etc maxed out?I'll probably have to compromise somewhere I know. I do not - after all - want to spend some 500+$ on an enthusiast card or a crossfire solution.More like a good mid range card.I saw some recommendations on Nvidia GTX 770 and AMD Radeon R9 280X. Would those fit the bill?
postal001
You can buy a 290x for around $350 these days. Might be more than what you're willing to pay. Edited November 17, 2014 by postal001
Bernt
Most definitely. At my place the cheapest 290x is at $430! But it might be worth looking for a factory made rig with that card. Thanks

Bernt
Yeah - that is a good price indeed. I might want to look it up on the UK site to see if they've got it too. Else we're talking shipping costs and tax on top of it.
ZeroKing
Get the NVIDIA GTX 970, beats both the AMD R9 290 and R290X. Good power to performance ratio, better cooling, and will last longer due to newer technology. Average cost is $370 USD. I got this one here: MSI GTX 970 4GB.
