NVSE major problem

Hey there guys. I'm having a huge problem with my NVSE and I don't know why, but here's the background and information: I used to play fallout a while ago, when nvse was nvse 3 beta 2, and with nvse in and of itself, I had no problems. I mean it was when I was starting to mod my game, so load order and etc was a problem for me, but nvse never caused a problem itself. So I just recently got into New vegas again, downloaded the latest Mod manager and NVSE version, and loaded up a couple mods.

Immediate crash when I load with nvse, saying that new vegas stopped working before it even loads anything besides a black screen.

So first of course, I look to my mods for problems, take off a bunch, have it down to a minimum amount, and try to load again: Nothing. Still fails. So then I try to take off ALL mods and load with just nvse. Nothing. Doesn't work, same thing happens as before.

So I turned on the mods I wanted and tried to load the game up normally through steam. That worked, I mean the mods themselves were a little glitchy without nvse, but it wouldn't ctd on startup or anything.

For this, I have tried to go back to the earlier version of nvse, same thing happened. I don't put the src from the nvse into the new vegas directory, I don't think it says you should. I really don't think this is a load order problem at all, but I'm going to post mine along with what I have in my NV directory.

Finally the only thing below that that picture doesn't get is screenshot bmp, steam api dll, very high ini

Really guys I need some help here, never had NVSE stop me this hard before and I would love to get back into fallout.

I don't see a Data folder in that screenshot. That should be there and should contain the main game data and assets for the game and it's DLC's.

Hey there, thanks for the reply.

As for the data folder, I have no idea. I'll have steam check for missing files, but my fallout still runs without nvse perfectly fine like that. Do you think that could cause the nvse problem though?

Huh... You can open the game and load a save or start a new one?

I can't imagine how that would be possible without the Data folder and the game files being present. Is the folder hidden for some reason?

Anyways, as for NVSE not working, I don't have any substantial help to give, other than a few points you may want to try. Make sure that:

  • Make sure your antivirus software is not interfering. NVSE functions in a way that may be deemed suspicious by some AV scanners.
  • Make sure your game is updated to the latest version.
  • Try installing the Visual C++ Redistributable and DirectX, which can be found the the game's Redist folder. I don't notice that folder in your screenshot either though. So... yeah.

NVSE is rarely a problem - most often it is a mod that relies on NVSE being installed improperly that causes a problem.

Without a real load order we can't tell much.

Use LOOT to sort, then show us the entire unedited load order from LOOT.

That is the order in which it as loaded. And as I said before, I don't think it's mainly a load order problem, I turned all of them off and nvse still doesn't even start.

As for antivirus and hidden folders, checked those, nothing.

Now you mention it though it is super weird those folders aren't in there. I have my saves in a separate file under my games, that's what it loads saves from. Beyond that I can't tell you why it's like that.

I'm really just super confused by this whole situation really.
