Bow parts floating after killing enemy

I have a problem with my Scoped Bows mod.

Problem:

When killing an enemy who has a scoped bow in his hands, the bow will fall to the ground but the scopes will freeze in midair. They will float in that position till the weapon gets picked up. Then they are attached to the bow again.

The scopes are not skinned. Is that the reason?

I have no experience with skinning. I always just exported my meshes from 3ds max and added them to the bow using nifskope.

This needs to be fixed to finalize the mod. I would be utterly thankful if someone could help me.

Just thinking intuitively here, but maybe it has something to do with the bow getting "havoked" when the actor dies. Maybe there is something in the mesh file that you need to set up to add havok to the scopes node.

Don't have much experience with nifskope so sorry if this is way off.

Love your mod btw. One of my "must have" on any playthrough :)

No problem, every hint is appreciated.

Havok...hmm- interesting approach.

The thing is, i can not see any differences between the normal bow node and my scopes except for the niskininstance. *scratch head*

Thanks though! I'm glad you find my mod useful.

  • 1 month later...

trying to make a bow myself at the moment, and this tutorial is really well explained and straightforward: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13604/?

i think you should try to skin the scopes too, maybe it fixes the issue and as the scopes are "static", meaning that they dont bend with the bow, its just putting a weight of 1 in the mid bone for all the vertices of the scopes, then you copy your bsshader whatever nodes to keep your textures, flags etc, real quick.
