Noob needs help with getting mods to work.

Ok, I recently bought the GOTY pack off Steam, and I've been trying to use some mods. I can get some to work, and others... I don't know what's up. I have OBSE 'installed' (I put the DLLs in my Oblivion folder like the readme said). I'm using OMOD, and how that works is one of the things I wanted to ask about.

I have HGEC installed, and it's working, from what I can tell. If I take off my character's clothes/armor, the torso is right, but I don't think the legs are. If she's wearing any armor, it looks like the base game.

I have one custom armor mod installed, which is supposed to work with HGEC, but when I put the armor on, whatever slot is affected disappears.

In OMOD, should I keep individual mods separated, or is it ok to combine multiple similar mods into one 'megamod' (let's say two clothes mods and one for weapons, nothing totally crazy)?

One of the other questions I had is... what happens if I have multiple mods installed that do the same thing (e.g. add new armors) installed? They are from the same author, so I assumed they would be compatible, but as I said, I'm kind of a noob at this.

If you are using OBMM, try reinstalling HGEC with different settings (my version allows different sizes, etc, some seem to be more compatible). This is just personal preference, but my mods work very well together using a handy program called Wrye Bash (complex, but has some great functions) combined with BOSS. BOSS automatically sorts all your mods into the least conflicting load order, and Wrye Bash can install/uninstall mods. If certain parts of HGEC are disappearing, it might not be completely installed. I had a similar problem with another mod, and using Wrye Bash's "Install Missing [files]" function, I managed to get the mod working correctly. To find Wrye Bash and Boss, simply search those on the downloads section of tesnexus.

Personally, I prefer not to merge mods unless I am given a guarantee that they will not conflict or over-write each other.

Hoping this helped,

Actually, I removed all of my "grouped" mods, and reinstalled them as separate files, and things do seem to be working now, although the body shape still doesn't look right. I would like to find a mod that redoes the standard armors so that they are HGEC compatible, but it's not a huge deal. I think the biggest problem I had was trying to do too much at once.

So far I only have two installed, I'm going to try the others, one at a time, and hopefully they all work.
