no community mods appearing in new games after 1.04

i'm running da:o only, never installed awakenings and have not yet installed leli's song or golems. i've never used the toolset. i'm not running steam, i have a hard copy of the game. i generally stay logged out while playing as my game seems to crash more often when logged in, though this could just be stupid wetware thinking on my part. :)

all characters created before 1.04 have all community mods--from both here and bioware--in their inventory. all characters created after 1.04 show up with only a few mods--specifically, the golden egg, leliana's sacred ashes armor, shade leather armor, icy's chilled ring of twenty, and the blood dragon plate and the edge, which are of course bioware's. nothing else.

it seems to be restricted to armor/weapons/items. any romance mods or cut scene edits still work fine. i have no problems at the chargen screen.

i'm really not looking forward to reinstalling the game, but i'm afraid this is what i'll have to do. is there any way to fix this problem specifically without a full uninstall/reinstall? and if i do have to uninstall, should i only update to patch 1.03 to avoid this problem? the game still crashes for me as well. if this has already been posted, please delete. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

eta: force loading to get items no longer works on the new characters.

So you have installed Darkspawn Chronicles? If so, try unchecking it and/or uninstalling it and see if that helps. It, like Leliana's Song was a 1.03 DLC and LS causes problems with 1.04 games so it might be worth a try.

it took me a second to check, but yes. all of the non-armor, non-item mods in override work across all saves, yes. it's specifically the armor/items that are (or appear to be) broken with characters created after i applied 1.04.

noob statement coming up: the items that seem to be missing are, on the whole, items (not things like skip the fade or no helmet hack) that are in the AddIns folder. *should* those items be in there? those would have been the ones installed using daupdater or damodmanager.

Sounds like the addins.xml file is damaged in some way. It is located in your My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings folder. To test this, rename the file to addins.xml.old then move your Addins folder to another location on your hard drive (the main My Documents folder or even the desktop should work nicely.) Create a new character. Then one by one reinstall your mods and check each one as you go. Do not install your BioWare DLC's until the end of the process. If that doesn't take care of the problem a reinstall may be in order.

I have the same problem.

After installing Awakening and patch 1.04 I am not able to get these mods to run except in a save previous to Awakening and the patch;

Thralls_of_the_Archdemon-104

Wilds_Robe_v2-79

Glory of Griffon vendor

So I decided to uninstall and reinstall but they still won't work. I uninstalled again and deleted the user\documents folder as well but still they won't work.

I have not installed any patches and the only DLC I have installed is the blood dragon armor. When they did work I had this DLC installed but I have tried to disable it and still nothing.

I don't see how this is possible unless there are files in another location other than c:\user\documents or c:\program files(x86)\etc. (I'm using Vista 64).

Does anyone know of such a file location?

I had a save where these mods still worked but I have not been able to create a new character with these mods working since I installed Awakening and the 1.04 patch.

Thanks,

I don't know about the Vista file system but from what I have read those are the correct locations. I have Awakenings installed and had Thralls of the Archdemon working in my last game and didn't turn it back on after starting my current game. Went in, checked it, loaded it and it appeared in inventory. It doesn't have a conflict in my game but things are "different" with Vista.

I have to ask... You are unchecking items that go in your inventory in your installed content screen (or with ModManager) before you start a new character, right?
