Is anywhere here modding using the SDk in windows 7?

I even contacted Bethesda support with this issue and all they could offer was try running in windows XP compatibility mode and after that they said they couldn't offer any more support because the SDK isn't tested on Windows 7

The problem is any time i change anything in my mod and try and save it is just IMMEDIATELY crashes

The Elder Scroll Construction Set has the same problems with Windows 7 as it has with Windows Vista. (The program is designed for XP.)

There are various approaches used to defeat the misguided and self-destructive Windows security system. The best approach is to reinstall Oblivion outside of the Program Files folder with its ungodly security restrictions. For example, on my Windows 7 computer, Oblivion resides at C:\Games\Oblivion.

Try this approach, I bet it will work for you.

Actually oddly enough i didn't have any issues with Vista i modded it fine on my vista machine.

Also I'm pretty sure it is already in my Games files its where steam generally dumps all my non valve games into (also i guess i should have mentioned it was bought through steam and im not sure but can you tell it where to download too if you buy it through steam?

Anyway thanks for your help

I can't really tell you why it is that I can mod on a Windows 7 machine and you can't, but I do know that it is possible for me and many other modders to do this.

I am not sure if I was clear about my file path. It is "C:\Games\Oblivion"

"Games" is a folder I manually created and named. It is not a default folder with security.

I am not referring to "C:\Users\David\Documents\My Games\Oblivion" which would not be a safe place to put Oblivion.

I guess I don't know anything about Steam. I have GOTY on CD-ROM.

I guess you could work more with the options such as running as administrator, experimenting more with compatibility modes, disabling UAC, or installing XP or Vista on your machine.

ahh that is different i did look further my file is in the program files because all steam games (included those developed by someone else but bought through them) i even contacted Bethesda and they simply tried to tell me it wasn't tested on 7 so they have no idea and when i asked them if there was any know issues with Vista and they just kinda blew me off at that point because there response had nothing to do with what i even asked lol

I may have to contact steam to see if it even possible to put files outside of steam if downloaded from steam, For all i know the steam version may not be compatible with the SDK
