Advice or help needed with editing a mesh

I would like to edit a mod that I downloaded (for my own personal use). It's basically a coat and gloves but I just want the gloves. I've got blender with the nif scripts added and nifskope but they're a bit overwhelming. Is there a really quick and easy way to remove everything except the gloves or is it going to be pretty complex and need a tutorial ? Any help would be very much appreciated , even if it's just to point me at a site with a tutorial on how to do something like this.
