AnotherFenrir Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 I thought I would start a new character without having to bother with the main quest for a while. You know arrive by ship in Anvil, check out Kvatch before the attack and maybe even visit the Emperor in his palace etc.. The problem is that KCAS doesn't start until the main quest does (and this seems to be the case with several other levelling mods as well). This is simply not acceptable. Playing the game without KCAS is not an option so I wonder if there is some way of forcing KCAS to start anyway? It would be a shame to have to scrap a great mod like the Main Quest Delayer... Amoramor Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Well, I like Alternative Start more than MQDelayer, because the main quest starts immediately. You can just go talk to Jauffre when you feel like saving the world. There's also Alternative Start - Arrive by Ship. They won't let you see the emperor before his death or anything, though. Ps. It probably has to do with the fact you skip the tutorial dungeon/area at all, have you tried using the skip dungeon plugin? Otherwise you'd have to find or create a compatibility patch...It's probably triggering a lot to activate the system and apparently the arrival by ship kills it. If I commit a crime in the IC and get arrested by a guard captain then I get thrown in jail and the emperor shows up, gets killed etc, I don't even need to go through the tutorial dungeon (just follow the emperor), I exit through the sewers and then KCAS kicks in without any problems. So the mods don't actually have any real conflicts between them, they both work.However... KCAS starts after and ONLY after the main quest have already begun. The idea of the MQDelayer is to enable your character to explore and adventure (and/or roleplay) BEFORE all the events of the MQ. I just wish that it was possible to have KCAS running (or another leveling system) during this time. I really can't see why the MQ must begin before you can run a leveling system. Is there really no way to force-start KCAS? Or perhaps modify one of the scripts in some way (scripting is not my thing though, so such a solution would have to be explained well to be helpful).
