Megatarius
A while ago I was playing around with the heightmap editor, and imported a map generated in Fractal World Explorer. It's pretty random and I'm not really a fan of the results, but that's okay. I'm still learning. Things were going fine for a while. Got my distant LOD land generated, but there are still land tears at the quad borders, which I read can screw up the texture generating. Well, the textures appeared to generate fine. I used a different program to do it, because I read the CS was really slow and buggy during this process. This was a while ago, and I can't remember the program now. I noticed though that the textures had no normal maps except for one small area. They were just glowing brown in the distance, no shadows or anything. But shouldn't they be black in that case? I think the normal maps rendered, but badly, because of all the tears I never fixed. Then I upgraded my nVidia drivers and this happened: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/Megatarius/shot1.jpg Is this just because I was hasty? This thing has tears galore and a lot of the normal maps wouldn't render from the program because of that. I haven't come back to this in a while, but I still want to learn heightmaps in the CS, so I'm going to give it another go. I'm worried this will happen again. What causes this? (And the regular game LOD land is just fine.)

Deleted680094User
have you fixed this yet? If not try turning your texture size to large in video options
