Funstuff of Doom
I've been collecting, and using, mods and models from oblivion for several years. I've got lots of groovy little doo-dads and whatnots, etc, and I can't touch them in Oblivion because the "NIF is too old." Now, I've seen Vagabond Angel convert a weapon to Oblivion, so it's possible. However, I'm significantly less skilled at the Grapphical Arts (read: no skills what-so-ever.) than he is, so I'm stuck asking. Is there a way/program short of 3DS Max that I can use to convert my old Morrowind models to Oblivion?

I'm probably wrong, but I'm fairly sure that you need to import your old models into something like blender (the cheapest alternative), then re-export them as a new NIF. However, since there isn't any official NIF exporter, problems may still occur. Also, kinda goes without saying, but before uploading any converted meshes, you should have permission from the origional author to convert and upload. On a side note, some of the meshes still might not work properly given the various differences between games, so anything other than weapons probably wouldn't work too well.
