Help Me Pick My Mods

You can use some ini tweaks which can make the game perform multi threading better as well as making the game better utilize the amount of ram you use. The ini can be rather confusing and intimidating to the novice. Download TweakOblivion which gives you a extremely user friendly GUI for editing the ini to make these changes and MANY more....

@Devjiro You're welcome feel free to ask anything, and somebody will most likely help you.

@SaintAnon I have TweakOblivion. It works pretty good, but I have seen no options for cores, only ram. I might be a complete noob and not know if these are intersecting in the ini or not.

Warning! Wall of Text follows.

Hellow everyone. I am new to PC gaming and Modding. I recently bought Oblivion GoTY edition, that includes Shivering Isles, and Knight of the Nine. I have a list of mods that follow, and I just wanted to know which mods I should add, replace, or remove to make a good final list to download once I receive the game.

I am a bit of a graphic enthuthiast, but do not have a good enough computer to be as picky as I like. I have 2GB of DDR3 memory, an ATI Radeon HD5670, and a dual core AMD Athlon II 2.8GHZ CPU. I understand that there are probably some things listed below that I will not be able to implement, but what should I do instead to get the best graphics I can while keeping the game playable?

Do any of these mods interfere with each other? Is there a limit to the amount of mods I can have (I have a pretty big list), and is there any other blatantly obvious thing that would make these not work correctly?

Also, what are your opinions and experiences with these mods. Are some of them crap and I should just forget about them?

If you do not know what the specific mod is, then just google it, because I used the official names.

I am not really seeking technical help right now, I will get into the complicated stuff later. ;)

Thank you in advance for any answers and hope this post is not too much of an eye sore.

Any other mods that increase performance without decreasing gaming experience?

Once again thank you. :)

For base mods I highly recommend either WAC or OOO and MMM together

for graphics I highly recommend enb series make the game look alot better without any fps loss if you tweak it a bit

for weather I use All natural, better storms and sounds, rainbows in cyrodil, and the natural habitat component of natural enviroments ( for birds and stuff)

illumination within is integrated in all natural

I use enhanced vegetation and better trees and flora to make plants look great

Alluring potion bottles v3 is now avalable and highly recommended

you should tweak your ini or get blurred water reflections+enhanced water( the hd version of enhanced water is in my opinion too clear when submerged but if you use enb series it look perfect)

for preformance definatly get elys crash prevention and quieter feet and oblivion script optimazation ( and tweak your ini!)

if you want lots of npc interation I recommend Integration+Kragniers Death quest (these add hundreds of great quests and dialog), lore dialog updated, oblivionfall let us talk, persuasion overhaul, diverse voices, elys universal silent voice, roleplayers dialog, reneers guard overhaul, and enhanced quest dialog

also get unique landscapes its a must

Here's a list of mods that I've made that I think you'll really like:

Gameplay / Realism:

Ranokoa's Organized Potions (V1)

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24128

Renamed and reorganizes potions and poisons by listing effect, then strength, allowing all them to be grouped together rather than spread throughout your inventory. Example, when you run out of Strong Potion of Healing, you'd have to search high and low for Weak Potion of Healing. Now, when you run out of the strong one, the weak, and regular ones are right next to eachother.

Ranokoa's Organized Potions (V2 - Alternately Organized)

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34176

Renamed and reorganizes potions and poisons by removing the Strong and Weak at the beginning and adding it to the end, while leaving the name alone. Now all potions begin with potion, all poisons begin with poison, so all potions and poisons are separate, while their effects are grouped. So they are named such as this:

Poison of Apathy - Regular

Poison of Apathy - Strong

Poison of Apathy - Weak

Potion of Healing - Regular

Potion of Healing - Strong

Potion of Healing - Weak

Grouped together, and categorized, all potions and poisons now follow an alphabetical order.

Ranokoa's Undercover Overhaul:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19913

Ever tire that when you put on a guard's outfit, or a bandit's famed fur armor, or a necromancer's robes, that all of the sudden every guard, every bandit, and every necromancer from far and wide suddenly now that you are not one of them despite appearing to be? Well, this changes that. Now, when putting on ANY armor or ANY clothing related to a faction you immediately go under cover for as long as you wear that item. This extends to any and everything, from Imperial Palace Guards, Marauders, EVEN Vampires and NOBILITY! Fix what Bethesda truly screwed up on, and allow total immersion.

Ranokoa's city Stealth Exits:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24894

Do you like to play the assassin or thief role? Do you like to immerse yourself in criminal activities but tire of the fact that any and all exits and entrances from cities are blocked by guards? Well, now you can immerse yourself in those dark-themed roles while still having a means of escaping without always getting arrested! Every city has some form or another of escaping or entering their domain without detection depending on the terrain, theme or layout of that city. Bravil has an underwater cave, Cheydinhaal can be gone in and out of by going through those giant grates at the waterline, Bruma has a well hidden ladder over the walls, and ETC. Now you can truly immerse yourself without having to murder 50 guards just to escape a potentially 50g fine!

Ranokoa's Realistic Item Prices:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28789

My personal rendition of what the prices of various objects should be. I thought long and hard what each of the hundreds of items might cost if bought in that era, and placed it so. For example: It was extremely stupid and unrealistic that any book should cost one gold... For one, that book had to have the paper made out of raw material, bound together, not to mention the leather for the cover (and tanning of the leather) and then hand written of each copy. How on earth does that equal a profit if sold for one gold? Each item is realistically priced due to my opinions. Now it's actually WORTH being a thief character. (This does not mean that you will all of the sudden become super rich if you play a thief type character, just that you actually have purpose to play one.)

Ranokoa's Faster Spells:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23398

This mod doubles the speed of most spells, (some are tripled depending on the type for realism) so as to have a realistically cast spell. I got tired of being able to side step my enemies lightning spell, and my fireball spell being dodged by a standing-still foe because the rotation of the earth was faster than the ball of projected fire. This mod changes the speed of all cast spells to be more realistic. (Warning: This is not just for the player. NPCs now have faster spells too! This is for realism, not cheat)

Ranokoa's No Vamp Sun Damage:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24632

Removes sun damage when being a vampire.

Ranokoa's More Vamp Sun Damage:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24631

Increases the sun damage when being a vampire to truly force you to be a creature of the night.

General Mods (Not built around ideal immersion or realism)

Ranokoa's Fort Death:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25585

There is just too much to explain about this one. It's basically a player owned fort house with nice display, and a giant dungeon that you can literally send any and all NPCs to and imprison them, execute them or even torture them, with patrolling guards. Also, the Temporal Reconfiguration Chamber. There is so much more, but it'd take forever to type it all out again. Whether you decide to download it or not, I do suggest looking at the link as it is just a piece of awesome.

Ranokoa's UnOblivionized Gates:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28578

Removes that stupid, FPS hitting weather when being within 1 billion miles of an Oblivion gate. Weather inside Oblivion is unaffected.

The Ban Hammer:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29173

Just a bit of fun here. Buy a rather expensive hammer that will instantly "ban" all pirated, trolls, thieves and even self ban for attacking a moderator (guard). A fun little piece of The Nexus on a satirical level, all while humorously giving props to the Nexus staff!

Ranokoa's Spells Expanded:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24123

A fun, yet balanced, mod that adds various new spells and armor for the mage-type character. The spells cost no mana to cast, but rather have equalizing negative affects to the player, without being too negative. Such as being able to restore your entire health and mana in an instant, however, being unable to move and put into a meditative sleep, or being able to cast a massive fireball, but getting slightly caught by the backblast. (This was a personal mod I made for a bit of fun, but for someone new to playing it doesn't unbalance the game too much all while being actually rather entertaining.)

Ranokoa's Spell Costs:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25430

Lowers the magicka cost of any and all spells (except summon spells) so it is worth playing a mage-type character. I thought it inane to be a "powerful mage" that's supposed to be able to be... idk... "powerful?" when you are a very high level, but casting any spell that does anything drains you completely. This lowers the costs (even of player made spells) so you actually have a chance of growing to be a powerful caster and making it worth all the work to play that role. (Warning: This is true for NPCs as well! Mage-type NPCs will be able to cast significantly more because their spells cost significantly less. Goes hand in hand with Faster Spells)

Ranokoa's Personal Torture Chamber:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20445

A nice little mod where you can torture half naked women (Male Version Available) for hours on end when you get bored. There are three rooms, the main torture chamber with various traps, the Blender where you can make a nice Chick-Stew (Or Dude-Chowder), and the Mincer, where you can chop chop chop! When you just feel like playing around and not being serious, all while not potentially wrecking your savegame, and are as sick as twisted in the head as I am, this is for you.

Ranokoa's Imperial City House:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23463

A free house in the Imperial City Elven Gardens district (I think... Might be the Temple District). There are three versions of this for different themes. Generic Citizen, Mage, and Fighter. While it is a free house, the house does not come with a whole bunch of rich items. It's perfect for someone starting out that wants to live in the Imperial City without being in a run down shack that costs more gold to buy than the medical bills for your sore eyes.

I hope there are some mods there that you'll like! Trust me, some of them you can't live without!

Be well, sleep well, fight well, live long.

~Ranokoa
