I recently bought a PC version of Oblivion, and i installed 3 mods: Midas Magic, an alternate start by ship, and some armor i oculd buy from "The Best Defense". i then downloaded Oblivion mod Manager, and then forgot about it. I then began to download about 4 other mods. when i realized they werent showing up in the "Data Files" section of the Oblivion launcher, i went and deleted Oblivion Mod Manager. when i tried re-adding them to the Oblivion data folder, they stiull wouldnt show up. has oblivion mod manager permanently ruined my mods? will i have to reinstall Oblivion?

Um.... no. Getting rid of OBMM and having OBMM can't interfere with files you're moving around via windows as normal. If your mods are not showing up under 'Data Files' it means that the .esp file associated with the mod has been put in the wrong place. I would suggest redownloading and installing OBMM, as the default launcher has no way to configure load order, and you'll run into problems rather quickly with mods if you haven't configured your load order. Next, I would reread the installation instructions on the mods that aren't being listed under data files, and look to make sure their files are in their correct places.

Sure thing, man. Just a few suggestions for installing mods:

1. *Always* read the readme. Even if you think you know how a particular mod is supposed to be installed it's always best to check. There may be certain steps that are specific to that mod.

2. When possible, get mods in OMOD format, or as an OMOD ready zip file, and install them with the Oblivion Mod Manager. This makes the process much easier for all mods, and foolproof for (almost) all mods.

3. Install mods one at a time. That way if you start up oblivion to find new problems you know which mod was to blame.
