Game has turned to total crap

Have been playing this game fo years now with no more than my share of the hundreds of problems it was released with. But for the last week I've been unable to approach what seems to be any area with raiders in it. Hell it may apply to supermutants and ghouls too, but I haven't gotten to any concentrations of those yet.

Started with the Super Duper Mart. would crash as soon as I enter the cell where it's located, right about the top of the hill where you run into the first gtoup of enmies. Sometimes, if I managed to work it right I'd get close enough to kill the ones on the exterior but then it would crash every time I tried to enter the bulding. I finally used the console to get inside, had no problems whatsoever, dealt with the raiders in side, gathered the goodies for Moira... and then crahed on trying to exit the building. Numerous times.

No stutter, no slowdown, just instant crash (the one you have to use the task mnager to recover from). Running pretty much the same mod setup I've been running for months which worked as perfectly as this game can work. I seem to be able to wander around the countryside dealing with creatures and robots with no problems but let me get anywhere near even just a few raiders and the game dakes a projectile dump.

Tried all the normal stuff (like I say, been playing this game for years and have dealt with just about every kind of crash there is... except this one, I guess.) Anybody have any ideas?

there's a missing reference in one of your mods. you will need to track down what it is and either download an updated version or fix it yourself

come to think of it, i quit FO3 long, LONG ago for a similar reason. that my game bugged to hell and back near the end with no indication of what might have gone wrong.

good luck

Give me a complete list / history of the following.

  1. Tools for mods in use or used.
  2. listed mods installed
  3. current status of the system updates, you'll find it listed under installed updates on the system.
  4. For a chance to Eliminate any possible out side interferences "networking bugs." create a new system profile on your PC.
  5. In that profile do NOT install the game, just find, locate links to it ,and to the tools in use.
  6. Do not launch thegame, that is for later, verify the systems desktop is set up correctly and the new profile allows you to edit files where the game is located by using system properties "note pad",
  7. contact me for later instructions. Follow the path I set before you and you WILL find out what's wrong.

I'll give it a shot. In the prcess of deactivating all my mods right now and will add them back one at a time so may take a bit. I'm using the old 13.x FOMM because about the time all this other stuff started, the newer 14x version jacked on me. All uninstalls have been total using Revo so shouldn't be any remnants left. I'll get back to you when I get the rebuild done.

Been all over it with FO3Edit and not a hiccup out of it. Cleaned all mods except CLCs. Used both LOOT and BOSS to vary the load orders. Most of my major mods are ones I've used for a year or two and had no problems up to now. Doing the last resort thing now, deleting all mods and reinstalling them testing between each one. Long process.

Fomms failings were do to the loot change over. but because some data is no longer used, the root code of that program now called LOOT is still active and remains the same, it has too because NMM uses the very Same code.

the location you need to set or manually recreate is a folder called (install-info) that sits in the games main folder, Not the data folder.

in there you need to make two files....text files. these Used to be put in there until the svn head was cut off. now they put it in a 4 lettered extension for Loots use and else where instead of the game folder.

yeah, your gonna chase your tail alright.

(masterlist.yaml) that's the name of the file from Loots git hub, the data inside of that is the old fomm template, but in order to make darn sure all tools work as intended, you need both version of the text documents sitting in the root folder that the "GAME ENGINE" uses.

they can not tamper wit that, can not block that. Install-info folder belongs to the geck, Understand? so you need the2 files to be named ........(lotemplate.txt ..and masterlist.txt) this will make sure your tools work,

fomm will no longer choke on a missing svn git site look up. short of destroying the game executable, it never fails.

Boss is built in fomm, but boss IS Loot and IS Fomm both.

keeping track of all the internal changes in opt codes takes a bit of getting used to. it's not like anything your going to be familiar with.

But that is whats used. you like fose right? It's not like any other program is it?

imagine breaking that down and rewriting it's code so the geck does respond with out assistance?

Imagine what it might look like in (cs)

Now imagine how things work , and what happens when you put scripts and coded data in the right spot on your system.

Fallout 3 goes by many names, has many meanings, this is the fallout of the game, we pick up the pieces and start over.
