I need someone who is atleast a decent modder

I've created a few mods, but I can NOT figure out how to make a model use a texture... I don't even know if I'm SUPPOSED to make it do that :( Can someone help me out?

I'm trying to apply a retexture of a T-51b that simply has ABC stenciled on the breastplate, but (as I said) I don't know how to combine the texture with the mesh.

Ooooh I love retexturing. Click on Restoreout in my sig to see a bit of my work (although its outdated by my unreleased pack atm)

You will need the correct tools to do so.

Make sure you have Nifskope and some kind of image editing software that handles .dds format.

Now you must get back to me in order for me to help you.

Have you made the texture already in .dds format?

and do you have Nifskope? (if not... get it now... It is a MUST for any kind of modder)

Good...

If it just a retexture as in you are replacing the texture... just put the texture into the correct folder and as the same name.

Fallout3\ Data\ textures\ armor\ t-51bpowerarmor\ T-51b PowerArmor.dds

If you are making a completely different T51b power armour with its own texture that will mean changing the file directory in the mesh itself

I will post how to do that if you need it =)

Do I create a new folder in meshes, and a new folder in textures (each with the same name) then place the mesh in the new mesh folder and the texture in the new texture folder (again with the same name)?

If not please explain :)

Will this texture be replacing the already ingame texture of the T-51b Power Armour?

If so then all you have to do is make the texture folders exactly the same as I said them:

Inside your Data folder... Make a "texture" folder... inside that make an "armor" folder... etc

Unless you are making a totally different armour for the game... then I'll need to tell you what else to do =P (Which is a lot more typing a much more of a pain =D)

Ok that complicates thiings a little...

Well put the texture folders in fine and make sure you rename the dds file into something else like... ABCT51B (I dunno... name it what you want!)

Right now here comes the mesh part... eurgh.

Get the mesh out of the Meshes.bsa in your data folder.

type in the little search bar at the bottom of it: t-51bpowerarmor\outfit.nif (Or just copy and paste it)

Then drag the file from the screen onto the desktop or straight into the data\meshes\armor folder

After that... open the mesh into nifskope.

Inside that, to the left of the screen open the 0 NiNode tree

Then open 1 NiTriShape txt Upperbody

and open 84 NiTriShape txt Arms02

Inside those two you will see something like

> 3 BSShaderPPLightingProperty

Open that one

Left click 4 BSShaderTextureSet

At the bottom of the screen open the > Textures tree

right click the top one (Should say textures\armor\t-51bpowerarmor\T-51b PowerArmor.dds)

Click texture and choose

Choose your retexture

then do the same for the NiTriShape txt Arms one too.

Save the mesh

Tell me when you have done that and send me a screenshot of the finished model. (Instead of a white model it should have your texture showing on it)

Email the picture to my email address: [email protected]

Top of nifskope make sure to click view and have these ticked:

Block List

Block Details

KFM

Then click view again, Block List (Under the one you ticked) > Show blocks in tree

You should then see the same screen I see =)

Block List on Left

Block Details on Bottom

KFM on right

And a white model of the T51B Power Armour
