Tried mod list for best experience?

Hello there. I'll start off by saying that I loved the old isometric-like fallouts. When FO3 came out I was hyped as I never was before so I went and bought the game. I played for a bit, got dissappointed and never touched the discs again. Now before anyone starts throwing rocks at me let me explain.

I loved the visuals, loved the world, had an ok rpg system but... I hate first person games with passion (unless it is Thief 1 or 2). And FO3 is a first person game. We may have the third person camera but after playing with it for a bit I am pretty sure the game was made for first person and probably had the third person added in it retroactivelly before release or something.

Anyways, this is not a thread for me to whine about FPS games. I, instead need your help.

I'm a 3d person myself, (maybe I should put 3d artist there, but I don't consider myself an artist compared to what's around in the world). I studied game development and while I know my programming I find infinite enjoyment in creating stuff for games, models, textures, etc. I started making a game with a couple of friends that fill the role of programmers and after a month or so of concepting ideas/mechanics/etc we are quite ready to start making some stuff.

A big problem I have is with filling the enviroment with stuff. Be that an outdoors enviroment or indors. I'm a minimalist myself and the game we're going for is quite at the opposite side of minimalism. It'll be a survival post-apocalyptic steampunk game and as such I'll have to fill the world with stuff. So I decided to install FO3 once again after 5-6 years as I remember I admired the work these people had put in, in such details. Not going to copy models or stuff (after all fallout stuff don't fit the steampunk style anyways), I just want to get ideas on how to fill the world.

So I installed the game downloaded NMM and started adding mods from the first 5 pages of most endorsed ones. The result was a buggy game that constantly crashed. So I came here for help om what mods fit with what mods so I can have some nice time in that game.

What I want is:

1) Immersion. As I said I hate FPS games so if I have to play one it better immerse me on it's world.

That includes, more people, more places, more stuff to do, sounds, a system of needs would be nice, skills/perks etc. I just want it realistic and immersive. I don't want weird japanese skimpy outfits, no lightsabers, no R2D2, no porche, however well made such mods can be. Also a must for mods that add NPCs is for them to be voice acted. Playing a voice acting game and then read some lines on the screen with no voice is immersion breaking.

2) Good visuals. Anything that adds better textures, shaders (no ENB) is applicable as long as it follows number 1 don'ts

My 580 sli should handle everything you can throw at me. I'll have some problem with my 4gb RAM but I plan to double it within the week or so.

3) Try to keep it NMM friendly. I know my way around PC's but I prefer to avoid the hassle of manually placing mods. Also if some mods need to be in specific order I'd be really grateful if you could specify that order.

4) I want to play the intro in the Vault as well so if any mods break that (I had a problem already with the mods I downloaded) they are rejected.

That's it. I believe it's relatively simple. Sorry for the wall of text but maybe my story will help someone understand better what I want and thanks in advance.

Which mods are "best" is an extremely popular subject, oddly enough. I suggest checking some of the previous threads for recommendations.

Straight-up - DCInteriors. There are plenty of other mods on the 'Highly Recommendsed List', but this one is at or very close to the top for nearly everyone, and for good reason.

I know, I read those... The main reason for this thread (besides some not-popular, difficult to find about mods) is that for 3 days now I'm trying to bugfix the mods I got so more or less I was expecting a conversation of what mod goes well with what. That's why I had "tried" in the thread's title. I'm sorry if it was not apparent after all.
