spinksy
Hi all new to the forum - I've just bought Oblivion for my laptop! I have it on Xbox 360 and absolutely love it (my favorite game by far ever!) Now I mainly bought it to try modding it and installing mods - one of the main mods I want is the Predator playable race so I downloaded it, under the requirements of the mod it says you need a few other mods installed to allow it to work. one of which is the latest patch - I downloaded the patch and clicked to run it - it starts installing then after about a minute it stops with an error message - 'old file not found. however, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match' when i looked it had stopped at 13% (processing: OblivionLauncher.exe) why is that? I have tryed it a few times and it does the same thing everytime - I have looked online for an explaination but can't find anything? could someone please help? I aint to good with pc/laptops by the way :-(
Deleted1662706User
Did you buy the Game of the Year edition? If so, it already has the latest patch.

Deleted1662706User
No, you shouldn't. Are you downloading the Shivering Isles patch? Most people download that when they don't have it. If not, scroll down to the Oblivion Patch, and try the US/UK. If you're currently using the US one, use the UK one and vice versa.

ArmeniusLOD
If you have Shivering Isles then you only need to install the SI version of the patch, not both. You need to install Oblivion, then SI, then the SI patch.
bben46
Unfortunately, Bethesda's patch scheme has a major problem - the SI patch is not compatible with the Oblivion patch with the SAME!!! version number. If you make the mistake of downloading the patch from anywhere except the official Beth site, you usually don't get the list of over a dozen variants of the patches for different language versions and choice of Oblivion or Shivering isles versions. So go to the Beth site for the patch - It's free: http://www.elderscro...tes_patches.htm READ the notes before downloading to be sure you have the right one. You only need ONE patch - the latest patch has all of the stuff from the older patches included. If you have Shivering Isles DO NOT use the Oblivion only patch! If you have Oblivion only DO NOT use the Shivering Isles patch! Be sure to find the proper patch for your language version - or you may see your game in Germanglish (a combination of English and German text) Note that there are TWO English version of the Oblivion only patch, one for the UK version and one for The US English version. But only ONE Shivering Isles Patch for both versions. If you have installed the wrong patch - it cannot be undone. And you get that message saying a patch of the same name has been detected. You must reinstall the game and try again.
maverickx29
i definitely got the patch through the official site. and i tried to just install the SI but it gave me the 'old file not found. however, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match' and it was at 0 % installed. so i installed the oblivion patch to see if it would help and it went to 50 and i got that error again. when i uninstalled the whole thing and tried version 1.2 and then SI went in fine but nothing happens. i'm completely uninstalling it and reinstalling it. and ill try to just install SI i'll edit this when thats done with the results. yea it just says the whole "old file not found. however, yada yada yada" so what should i do?
