LE Crossbow Iron Sights / Holding Crossbow in front of you, looking down the "barrel" / bolt

Hello there!

 

I would love to have a mod that changes the first person aiming with crossbows so when you have the crossbow equipped and press aim, instead of having to shoot it from the hip you hold the crossbow in front of your face, looking down the barrel and/or sights.

Of course there are some minor problems involved with this one:

 

Problem 1: Having the Eagle Eye perk

 

In vanilla Skyrim, zooming in with the bow was not a problem, because you never actually really aimed in a realistic way (realistically you use your hand and the arrow to successfully aim with a bow, the arrow actually being your iron sights). Bethesda placed the drawn bow on the right side of the screen so even zooming in with Eagle Eye would leave the crosshair enough space to let you guide a moving target or aim higher to hit far away stuff.

Concern: Zooming in with the new in-your-face-crossbow-aim blocks out big parts of your screen, making it hard to guide moving targets or aim higher.

Possible Solution 1: Provide scopes (much like the ones from "Scoped Bows" http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50528)

Possible Solution 2: Have the iron sights not actually in the middle of the screen but further down in the lower third or quarter of it. This leaves the option for players who'd like to keep the crosshair to do so or for those manly hardcore boys like me having to guess the middle of the screen (of course with a little help from the below placed iron sights)

 

Problem 2: Aiming very high to hit far away targets

 

Same as problem 1 actually, the whole crossbow would block out your view.

My favorite solution would be placing the iron sights a bit below the center of the screen.

 

 

 

For crossbows being the medieval assassination sniper rifle and crossbowmen heavily relying on the fact that you can look down the sights of crossbows so easily, pulling the trigger whenever they wanted and letting the stored energy go, cheekily punching through knights plate armor I honestly wonder why this mod hasn't been made yet. It would just be too much fun :smile:
