All automatic weapons firing single shot

Have scoured the forum and couldn't find any other posts with a similar problem (or maybe I wasn't looking hard enough). Anyway all my automatic weapons from 10mm machine gun to Chinese assault rifle and all the added mod weapons (ACR, CALIBR, xCalibr) only fire a single shot when firing first/third person. In V.A.T.S. they fire automatically as they should. It has only happened since I started a new game. All weapons and mods were ok on previous game. Has anyone had this problem? Is it a conflict of mods or because they were enabled from the beginning of the game (whereas they were added during my last characters lifespan). The game is still playable and enjoyable but sometimes you want to empty a couple of mags into a Behemoth or, having Marts Mutant Mod installed, thirty odd night ghouls. Any assistance is appreciated.
